If you could only have 3 Bucks...

Ok, maybe this isn't a fair question to ask some of you, in fact this might be some forum member's worst nightmare, but if you could only have 3 Buck knives, what would you choose? Responses can be either specific knives or models.

I'm a bit torn about what I would choose myself. If I limit myself to knives that I alread own the choice gets easier though, since I only own 4 Bucks (at the moment) and one of them is a Swiss Buck, which I do love, but because it wasn't produced in a Buck factory, it would be voted out leaving my Vanguard, 119, and 301.

If I could go out and buy a knife the question gets a bit more tricky. I would want a fixed blade, a large folder, and a small folder, so the question becomes one of being ultra-traditional vs thinking with end use it mind.

Option A: The Ultra Traditioal Route.
Fixed Blade 119
Large Folder 110
Small Folder 301

Option B: The "User Friendly" Route.
Fixed Blade 192
Large Folder 112
Small Folder 301

I think option B is winning in my mind by a narrow margin. I guess that means my next knife purchase is a 112.

So, what would you choose?
 
Oh, that's easy.

1. A Three-Dot FG 112 in desert ironwood.

2. A later-model 121 in stag.

3. A 60s 120 in nicely yellowed ivory.

Well, my 3 would be quite different.
1. Buck Hood
2. Buck Paradigm Pro or Customized Buck 110 micarta S30v W/ thumbsud & pocket clip.
3. Buck Vantage Pro Small

But, within your specs, I would pick option B.
 
I use a 110 and a large Vantage Pro more than any other Buck's I have. I have one or the other on me all the time.

I think I would choose the Hoodlum for my third, but don't have a lot of experience with it....yet.

For me I'd have to have two options: 1) A Selector with the drop point or skinner blade or the club paperstone model with the drop point S30V blade, my Duke from the Heritage Series with S30V blade and a 121 Fisherman. 2) My scrimshawed 112, an Akonua (maybe a 103)and a 121. Then I'd make sure to gift my wife a Bucklite 426 and model 200. :) DM
 
well the OP asked for the three Bucks you could have if you can only have three. That means 3, not several options of three. So, the 3 I would pick are Vantage, 119 and a 303. A very hard choice.

Large folder: 112
Small folder: 307 (not so small I know, but just gotta have it!)

  • Buck 105 Pathfinder
  • Buck Vantage Avid Large
  • Buck 313 Muskrat
