if you could only pick two traditional folders $100 or less which one's?

I'd go with my spear point Charlow....and either a SAK tinker or a Buck 110

My Opinel #8 (olive wood)

and my Harness Jack.

If it is for the rest of my life, I'll need something that's easy to open.

Different answer next week.

GEC #85 EO for when I get old and have trouble opening blades and a #73 for the real work. $100 dollars each, it's tough, lots of good serviceable options under $100.

Both would have to be multi-blades, and I would take one in stainless and one in 1095.

Case Wharncliffe Saddlehorn Trapper in TruSharp stainless and green jigged burnt bone, $55

Tidioute Cuban Stockman in 1095 and carved pumpkin jigged bone, $85

I would say a Case small Texas Jack in amber bone and a Case Sway Back Jack in chestnut bone.

This is the impossible question, worthy of a Ph.D. dissertation that would requires years of revisions with chapters on philosophy, physics, and engineering.

Even with a different answer each week, it might take a lifetime to answer this question.

There is absolutely no reason why the case swayback jack in chestnut bone cv should not be in every knife fans collection.

If you do not own this knife do not pass go, go directly to your favorite knife purveyor and buy one right now...NOW!!!

OK. My Bucklite 422 from the '80s. (Does a plastic handle count as traditional?). And a TC barlow (Charlow); I don't know how I would choose one. And my sharpening stones.

just for the heck of it, say there was no further production of knives in the entire world from this point on, what would you go with?:D

Probably either my 2 blade TC Barlow in Ebony Wood from the 1st Run (Both nail nicks on the same side), my Single Spear Soup Bone Charlow, my SFO 85 Linerlock Single Blade in African Blackwood, or my Swiss Yeoman.

I could randomly pick two knives from my humble collection and be happy with whatever I ended up with.

Right now I'd say a N[SUP]o[/SUP] 8 Opinel with a burled olive wood handle for something lightweight, functional, and attractive. It also offers the locking option for those times where it might be useful. I think the other would be something like a Queen #9 Stockman for the blade selection and D2 steel. Less frequent sharpening would make the blades last longer.

I'll probably change my mind by next week, though.
:D

White Owl and the Charlow of my choice, since we can spend $100 each. 'Course, having typed that, maybe I should have said a Charlow and a Sodbuster.

Old Timer 8OT Large Stockman, '70s era...and a Camillus or Ulster Boy Scout knife from the '60s. Buy good used ones on the auction site, and have about 35 bucks left over.

Me thinks that my Chestnut bone peanut would eat up the #1 spot, the second spot would be a hard decision between my Boys Knife and an Opinel.

If I were restricted to only TWO knives for the rest of my life I'd probably die rapidly of depression/ennui... Variety is a must.....

But, and this situation sounds like a Faustian pact :D Queen Cutlery Teardrop liner-lock in D2, GEC White Owl in stainless. But wait, I've changed my mind.... "The stars move still, time runs, the clock will strike" too late!
