If You Could Pick 1..

I've heard nothing about separating dark and light Ebony for production vs. custom knives. In my mind that contradicts everything Taylor is trying to do to change the perception of what Ebony should look like.

Last summer a Buck employee told me, over the phone, that ebony was going to be added to the custom shop, and that it would be the lighter colored wood, sorted out from the production line. Whether that is what Buck is actually doing, I can't say. The picture in the custom shop looks like it's the lighter wood. While the pictures of the production knives looks like black. That is what I based my statement, in the earlier reply on.

Makes sense from everything I've seen too. Maybe putting lighter wood on the more expensive option heavy custom knives is how they are doing there part to change perceptions. I have knives in all shades of ebony and they are all nice.
