If you had $200 to spend on an EDC folding knife, 3-3.5" (leaning toward 3.5) what would you spend it on. I really like Benchmade and Spyderco, and would like it to be ffg, or if it isn't, a good slicer.

I would get a Spyderco Gayle Bradley and have cash left over. I am not a Spyderco gut but the GB is a great knife.

If I didn't own any knives, I don't really know, Maybe Spyderco Para 2, Stretch 2, Sage 2, Benchmade 940. But a great option at around $200 if you can track one down is the Bradley Alias in G-10 and Titanium Framelock, wicked fast and ultralight, an awesome knife

stretch 2 in carbon fiber and zdp-189 if you can find it...that or the endura with zdp....all the other options mentioned above are great knives as well i own all of them with the exception of the alias and they are all great edc's

My favorite sub-200$ slicer would have to be the British Racing green Spyderco stretch in ZDP-189 it cuts like crazy and edge retention is out of this world I realy love mine and haven't to sharpen it in a month and a half or so also like powernoodle stated you may want to invest in a sharpening system of some sort if you truely are obsessed with having the ultimate slicer.

I'll echo the Para 2 vote. Personally though I'd go with the vallotton, can't remember if it's ffg?

:thumbup::thumbup: On the GB. One of the Best Spydies Ever made. Great cpm-m4
steel, carbon fiber, strong liner lock(liners as thick as some frame locks), hollow ground
but it's a Great slicer, cutting edge is about 3/8 more than a Para 2.
A little heavy side a 5.5 oz. thou. Fantastic knife.:)

If I were you, with that $200, I'd buy a Cold Steel American Lawman, a Leatherman Wave multi-tool, and take my wife/girlfriend out to dinner with the $ left over.:).

I would hold on to the $200 and keep on saving and get a sebenza. If you can't go over, i'd get a Military and a Delica, a Military and a Para 2, or a Delica and a BM 940, so many options and combinations you can make.

$200 gives you a wide selection, as you can see. Personally, I'll echo those who have recommended the Spyderco Gayle Bradley. Not only is it a great blade, but it's built with the same quality as some knives twice or three times its price. Yes, it's a little heavy, but the heft is worth it. Plus, you'll have about $60 left over to play with, depending on where you buy.

I'd look for a secondary market Spyderco ParaMilitary CTS-20CP Gray G10 Sprint run. You can find them, now and then, for $200 or under.

Second choice would be a Bradley Alias, Titanium framelock. You can find a LNIB or lightly used one under $200 if you keep your eyes open.

Knives costing $200 are great for collecting, impressing other knife nuts, making your friends scratch their heads, and other niche' purposes, but are not what I want for daily use.

$200 will get you a whole HEAP of durable users to carry - so many in fact that you wont use them all up in a lifetime. For example:
* Set of LG and Sm Douk Douks - $40
* Victorinox Solo Alox - $15
* Victorinox Soldier - $20
* ENTIRE CASED SET of 10 carbon steel Opinels - $120

Total:$195 for 14 knives - and NO CHINESE CRAP to be found. ;)

That's total overkill; a Douk Douk and a SAK would last you for decades... but I think I've made my point.
