I like the spyderco military because it is so light. It sure will cut to.

Actually, at this point I'd go custom. Steve made me a pretty durned nice BUSTR.

my farmer for sure

My Farmer 100%!!
but only since i lost my 110 into the deep blue yonder a couple weeks ago...not sure how to replace something like that with all of my history in it...hate the shiny new ones...gonna try and find an unsharpened oldy if i can

I have been carrying a Buck folding Kalinga for a couple of months. This folder feels more like a fixed blade in the hand. I like the slicing performance of the curved blade.

Not to upset anyone but I think allmost all SAKs have so many tools that they are more multitools than folding knives.... having said that my multitool top choice would be Swisstool X, it's been in my belt for the past 3 years and I would feel comfortable with it in the bush too.

I feel like there's a crossing point there. For me it's around the 5 layer size. a huntsman is just about the ideal production outdoors SAK if you don't need an end mounted phillips (the explorer and outrider are the ones I prefer, honestly.) The hunstman and explorer are both 4 layers and the outrider is a large sized lockblade.

For me, the inclusion of the basic SAK tools- can/bottle/wine openers and screwdrivers and especially scissors, aren't in the "multitool" class. The multitool exists as a category almost solely because it is based on pliers and is more or less sheeple friendly.

To me it's about the concept of having several functions in a single tool but I do understand what you're saying

My son, Leif, would like you all to know that his preferred outdoors folder is the hunstman he got last week for his 6th birthday. "cuz it has a saw and scissors and a hole poker and a hook."

And thumbs up to Sierra for making him a belt case with his monogram for it

(Oh yeah, I have several tats, so Leif is crazy about them)

Vic Farmer or a GEC SARPENT, both great knives.

Id love a Dozier folding hunter, but damn they are pricey.

I have nothing against the farmer and quite enjoy mine, but I have to confess that I don't get it. I've had situations in the military where I was happy to have the thicker main blade and 'hammerable' scales, but never in the outdoors.

I've never felt like, in an outdoors situation, I've stressed the main blade of a regular huntsman or explorer. Yet I've had dozens to hundreds of situations where I was glad of the scissors, the tweezers, the corkscrew, and the finer point on the awl.

The farmer does feel a bit more beefy, and it's a pleasure to hold, but ..... well, I don't "get it."

From what I have I'd choose the Spyderco Chinook 3 or Mini Manix.
Both cut very well and have stupid strong locks.

Buck 110 or a Vic Farmer...hard to decide

The Buck 110 Is for sure my Favorite Folder, I've had this one for 30 + year's and I know It's gonna still be going long after I'm Dead & Gone, I like this Combo the Buck 110 fit's perfect In the Front pocket of the BK7 Sheath, This Is a Great Combo, The BK7 BK13 and the Buck 110,
