If you had to choose 3 Busse's

Well, I got hit pretty hard this month with the Busse bug. I bought a FFBM, CGFBM, CH ASH1, BATAC, and a swamp rat hairy carry. I also bought a Fehrman Thru Hiker for a small knife to set up as a piggy back to a larger blade for fine camp work. Now, my question is, if you had to choose 3 Busse knives for camping and or wilderness survival which three would you choose.

3 Busses for wilderness use out of those that I own? Easy.

Game Warden, CGNMSFNO and FFBM. These three are various handy sizes from small general utility knife to enormous chopper. The NMSFNO can do "one-knife-does-it-all" duty if need be and food prep. I chose CG versions for the price. The NMSFNO LE would be great on the field, but I won't beat on it as hard as on the CG. ;)

1) hatchet
2) Ka-Bar
2) short busse
:)

don't actually own any but if I did it would probably be something along the lines of a skinny ash, 3 busses have to be pretty heavy if you're in survival mode.

Seems like a trend, either short and light, or large and thick. With a few large think blade and the rest small and thin.

Probably my FSH, BAIII and GW.

FFBM, FSH, SJ Tac, BAIII, BAD and GW rounds things out a lot better, though.

The one larger knife I'd like to have is a Ruck... if I ever go back to work.

Busse Combat 3:
My AK... Brush clearing, protection
My HOGFSH... Chopping, and heavy use
My Old School SJ... Smaller jobs (SAK would always be with me too)

Swamp Rat 3:
My RatWeiler... Chopping, and heavy use
My Ratmandu... Camping chores
My Rat Hunter... Small jobs (again, SAK would always be with me too)

Honarable Mentions:
FBMLE
WFBM (Ban modified FFBM)
ST Ripper
SAR Rat Desert Variant
ANY of my ASH-1s
Desert Jack

Can some of you guys tell me why you chose these certian blades. What tasks would you use each for? Thanks

Well for myself (and I'm no outdoors expert but have used my knives a lot)...

(1) AK - Used primarily for clearing brush and light chopping.

(2) FFBM - Designated chopper and splitter.

(3) NO-E - general purpose chores such as rope cutting, food prep (just the basics), fire prep, etc...

Of course since I live in the Los Angeles area I might have a few different uses for them but the basics would probably stay the same.

LOL I'm trying brutha. I gotta convince the little lady as she has lots of family here. But I'm working on it. ;)

But I could see using my INFI, esp. the FFBM as an entry tool as well. Heck, even as an exit tool.

I bet it could, when the call comes and you have to stack up for and dynamic entry, that damn thing should work just fine. I worked as a LEO while out there, which is why when my son was born, it was time to go. Stay safe bro, its only getting worse.

Good Post! ....lots of excellent choices:thumbup:

slightly off the topic,

.... week or more camping, hunting a BM-E and a Game Warden and a Leatherman Wave.

.... 3 or 4 days, I will take either a MeFo or and ST Ripper.

Knives are great but, one must consider the weight:D

Although I might swap out the Green/Black Paper OD for this G-Rex version, just to keep the color scheme consistant..... ;)

On a more practical note, I'd take a B9, a ZT NO-E (if I had one) and an original zero edge AD (or a LMS).

I do like the Randucci trio! :)
