If you had to choose one knife company?

I have blades by Spyderco, Benchmade, CRKT and others. If I were constrained to choose one, it would be Spyderco.

Spyderco choice, fit and finish are good, and I'm quite impressed with the owner's attitude and interaction with customers as evidenced by visiting the Spyderco Forum.

I would have to go with Cold Steel. Not because of the quality, but because they've got the most diverse types of knives available out of any company.

Sure am glad there really isn't just one knife company!

But, if there was, I'd go with Spyderco. Sal would probably encourage a few other companies (in this imaginary Knife Monopoly World)to start up just for the fun of competition!

Two years ago I would have said Benchmade, today I would say Spyderco. . . with only a moments hesitation.

Benchmade overall.
Spyderco, but only their few linerlocks.

Microtech's quality beats both, but their limited number of designs and price point keep them as, well, a high quality company with fewer and more expensive designs!

Spyerco and Microtech kick Benchmade's butt on outta the box sharpness, but if you know how to sharpen a knife, that doesn't matter.

Victorinox.
Their products are not the most beautiful, innovative, they don't use high end steel or handle materals, but the knives are extremely user friendly, reliable, versatile, compact with excellent and consistent quality for very affordable price.

I would guess Spyderco! Without even looking. They do things right! When we want it, they listen. How many companies do that for a small customer base?

Lets be honest, if all us KnifeKnuts agreed to only buy knives from one company on a regular basis and we were the only customers. How long before it went bust? A couple of weeks or so. The big companies sell low models to enable us to buy the good stuff at low prices.

Camillus selling lots of 'cheap' 420HC EDC so we lucky few can have a 154CM model! Way to go Will and Mike!

Spyderco selling the Ultra fine benchstone at a huge loss, so we can have them. Also look at the quality of the Endura, Naitive and Delica. Good steels (esp the FRN Naitive) in a FRN/lockback format. Affordable yet well made and decient. The FRN and lockback would stop me buying most blades, but not a Spyderco!

Truth is, high performance steels are not high sellers by volume. Most users want a fair knife at a fair price. That is why CRKT sell so many knives! The public cares not that 6M is a poor performer to a steel snob! They buy them.

My local merchant told me that he sells twenty knock off Spyderco's at £10 each, to one £45 Spyderco.

CRKT are his best 'brand' seller, followed by the 440a Gerbers. I wonder why?

Thanks Spyderco, Camillus et al.

I think I have said enough.

Spyderco, hands down.
Continuous Quality Improvement--or as the MBAs say, CQI--is a buzzphrase in the business world. To learn what that really means, study Spyderco.

Have to agree with the others on the SPYDERCO. Durable, sharp, and quality.

Thanks
