If You Had To Live With Only One Buck?

Tony, Think nothing of it, I knew you'd remember the difference but for folks to understand the difference, I mentioned it. DM

I think I could suffice with only my Buck 309 companion if it really came down to it. More than enough knife for 90% of everyday tasks. For larger stuff I'll just break out a more appropriate tool like an axe or machete.

Just one knife for me would be the versatile 301 stockman. Three blades to choose from. The last time I carried a 301 for 25 years, it did everything I needed from a knife.

A few days ago, i could have easily agreed with WHETROCK. I too adore the Buck 309 "Companion". Since 1977 it has been my EVERYDAY/ALWAYS knife, sometimes solo, sometimes with back-up. For a long while, it was, my only Buck. My son came along a few days ago, with a late birthday gift. He gave me a very nice Buck 120 "General". I MIGHT could come down to 2 Bucks, that's as low as i could go. Man,even that seems awfully low. regards Henry

If limited to only one Buck it would be my first, a circa 1970 301 - It was my EDC for many years and did everything I needed to do. Of course you said one "Buck" - so I could use my Randall #26 for a hunting knife, my Imperial M-4 bayonet for a fighting knife, etc. OH

Ditto on the 112! I've used it for backpacking, EDC and yard work. It fits my hand well and can do most jobs I need it to!

I torn between the 110 and 301. For someone living in town/the burbs, the 301. Living out, away from settlements, the 110.

definitely my 143 comes with me anytime i go into the woods. best 18 dollars i ever spent

What, no one mentioned the 186, many production firsts in the industry, one of the first knives with a clip, one of the first take apart knives, one of the first titanium production knives, how could ya go wrong.

It took me a year to hunt this knife down after it was introduced, paid $80 back in the mid 80s, still have it and still use it.

I also like the 309, but if it had to be one Buck, I would choose the basic, black 303. I got my first one, which was made by Camillus, back in 1978 as a kid.

I actually like the hollow-ground blades nowadays a bit better.

A 301 will do about everything I need done.

Pinn, The drop point 110 with stag handles you like so well... 110 Dave just posted a picture of one in the Damascus handled 110, thread. DM

David. Thanks for mentioning that. I did just gloss over it when I first saw his post and didn't notice it.

Wow, beautiful.

one?!? only one?!?...in that case it would definitely be my most trusted Buck Punk by Ron Hood. What a great little knife that is, but for any hard use, gloves are warranted naturally. Then if it would be limited to a choice of folders, then I'd pass my nice Cabela's Alaskan guide 110 in favor of my «built like a tank» Buck CSAR-T in ATS-34 and G10 handles. The CSAR-T would allow me hack a little and it would handle any hard use job easily!!! YEP! :)

it would have to be my new hoodlum or my pre tops era night hawk short version with gray coating and green handle...most lickely choice is the hoodlum
