:owhat im really and truly trying to ask is ............. well im joining the military after i finish college , which is soon ..and i was wondering ............. if you guys ...... could tell me,the three knives you would bring with you for your departure. that's it that's all....... just getting a poll going here for the best lineup of tactical and utilitarian task need some input thanks :D

p.s i know there are probably threads like this one but f@#$ it need some new opinions

A leatherman multitool(I personally like the wave for my needs but in the military I would go with something that has the replaceable wire cutters)
A spyderco Military(to cut stuff, last ditch self defense)
A Becker BK16 or 17(nice medium sized, very versatile fixed blade)

Don't they issue u knives there? Honest question. I'd take a mut leather man multi-tool, benchmade adamas fixed blade and my favorite folder, Emerson cqc-15

Being a prior Reconnaissance Scout / Combat Medic ( I went to both schools) I have asked myself the same question. I would have to go with best quality with the least amount of items allowing the ability for multi-use purposes.
I also came up with 3 items

So I have the following and if I ever had to go to war again this is what I would bring.

Direware Solo V2
RMJ Shrike
Leatherman MUT

In the particular scenario you mentioned, I would bring these:

1. ZT 0560
2. Leatherman Wave
3. Gerber 06 Automatic

I'd get a tomahawk for sure. Just as an overall tool

Rmj shrike
Leatherman charge
Socom elite

I know only one of them is a "knife"

Leatherman Charge Ti
Swamp Rat Rodent Solution
Swamp Rat RMD

Nothing too pricey in case it walks..

None. Wait until you've finished with Boot Camp, have your Trades Training under your belt, and then you'll have a better idea of what you're going to need. Best to not bring your own personal effects to Basic Training (you ought to 'sterilize' the contents of your wallet too!) You'll most like just have to put it in lock-up anyway where it runs the risk of being stolen. Sad but true.

Best of luck, OP! :)

Leatherman Supertool 200 (because I have one) Spyderco para-2 and ESEE 4.

However, I may scrap the idea of the ESEE 4 since we get issued a sizable bayonet in the Canadian military.

The 3 I would bring.....

1. The gerber E.O.D multi tool. Carbide and replacible wire cutter.
2. I personaly like the spikehawk from Cold steel. if the handle breakes have a friend in maintenace weld you a handle in to it.
3. M-9 Bayonet Offical issue. dont even need a 3rd. this one is very reliable. Instead of buyin a third buy a couple of stones to Keep them all in "kill" mode. Thats what i would do. And thats what my 3 friends did. they left the stones in there at home and when they had down time they would clean there rifles, and sharpen there knives. And reading about the brave ones who forught before them.

Leatherman MUT
Becker BK-17
Spyderco military and a traditional pocket knife

Ill list several you might consider

for folders :
strider SMF
Spyderco Military
Spyderco paramilitary
Zero tolerance 0560 , 0301 and 0350

For fixed blades:
Strider DB, SA, EB
ZT0121
Esse Izula or 4

For multitools:
Leatherman MUT, wave or my suggestion the TTi

I dont know your tastes but those are some recommendations

If I had a load to spend, Id personally get TTi, SMF and DB
If i had less, Id still want the TTi, A ZT350 and an esse 4
