Although my favorite EDC is 2 7/8" closed, I believe I'd step up to a whopping 3 1/8" if I had to carry only one size:D

Although I've been carrying knives in the 3 1/4" to 3 5/8" range lately, I voted for 3 5/8" - Perfect (for me) all around EDC size and, provided it's slim and light enough, can still be carried somewhat comfortably in lighter weight/dressier trousers if a smaller knife isn't available.

I voted 3 1/2", although I'd be perfectly happy with one at 3 5/8" & have carried some that are 4" & 4 1/8".

Given a choice, I'd say an ideal size is a 3 1/2" mini-Trapper or Jack of some kind (My Joe Allen Serpentine Jack for instance).

3 58 for me, in general.

A lot depends on the wight of the knife/thickness. A single blade can go over 4" if its not a brick:D

I'm good with anything from 3-1/2 to 4-1/4, so I voted for 3-7/8, right in the middle. Of course, my favorite EDCs are the Queen teardrop varients, and they are 3-7/8 also.

2 7/8ths for me. Peanut, small stockman, etc. Can handle anything a bigger knife can, but is much more comfortable to carry, and sheeple friendly as well. I love the little guys.

Like a lot of folks, I used to carry a Trapper but the smaller are the ones today. I chose 3 3/8 but even smaller would be fine.

3 5/8" seems to work for me. Luckilly, I don't limit it to one!!

I went with 3 1/4. Both my old Buck cadet and tinker are 3 1/4, and I think that's what the old Schrade middleman jack was. Handy size for a do everything pocket slicer, yet both have the smaller blades for the fine work.

3 7/8 because that is how large my favorite stockmans are.

I selected 4" because that usually means the blade is usually around 3¼" long which is just about right as far as legality in most places goes and does not stir too much attention when using it around non-knife users. That Trapper in my Avatar is a Case Trapper 4&1/8" knife (closed) with a 3¼" blade and carries nicely in my pocket.
