Yes, this a play off the 'doomsday' thread. The thing is, I wanted a more realistic view. Let's say you are lost in the woods (please, no "I'd carry a hatchet in the woods"...strictly knives, please), the 'shlt hit the fan' (society-wise) scenario, or you just had to survive. You have no option of axes, hatchets, machetes, chainsaws, etc.; just your knives. What 2 would you grab (knives you actually own, mind you)?
My choices:
Spyderco SWICK-can do anything my 'big' knife can't.
BK&T Brute-I don't think it would let me down, and can handle 'big' chores.

Bark River Gameskeeper
Bark River Mini-Canadian

Both have matching green fern fibermascus scales, full tang, convex ground A2, and easily sharpen up via stropping. No folders for me in a survival situation.

Probably my Busse Battle Mistress as a machete and use in building a lean-to or other shelter. Another smaller fixed blade like my just ordered Fallkniven S1, Ka-Bar, or smaller Busse.

WW2 Japanese Arisaka bayonet
Benchmade Ruckus or Harsey T-2

Aw, come on - Only two? I carry that many in Urban environments.

Well, since clearly the explosion must have emptied my pockets of my SAK Farmer Alox and SOG Vision Ti - I'll invest in a friggin lanyard next time ;-)

In the mean time I guess all I have left is a Ka-Bar Impact D2 Spearpoint, and a Leatherman Wave - glad they were on my belt.

Good thread J.Davey -

At this point I'd take a semi large fixed blade, and a folder.
My Pics would be Chris Reeve Green Beret, and the SOG vision with the TI Handles.

The Reeve can do the chopping, or if I had to primevil and make a spear, or if Ol' Yogi decided to track me ;)
and i don't have to worry about the maintenance on the SOG (Lock on the forefront of my mind concerning maintenance)
Both blade steels would have decent rust tolerance (S30V/ ATS 34)

Kershaw Outcast and a Large Sebenza. :D

I will have a Busse Battle Mistress + BM Nimuravus. i depend on my life more with fixed blades.

I like the way this thread is going! Some VERY nice opinions tossed about...AND NO FLAMIN'....yet!:)

Hi,

1. My new Busse Satin Jack Tack LE (6" blade, .22 " thickness)

2. If allowed a good Multitool, I'd take that (I like my Leatherman Charge XTi)

or

3. If multitools not an option, for a smaller blade I'd take my Busse Meaner Street
