If you're a teenager, let us know!

CJZ, I gotta thank you for starting this thread. Good to see it's not just geezers. I will be a geezer next year (only 59 now).
Got my first knife at 8 and have carried since. Got my son a knife at 8 and told him not to take it to school. Different rules than in my day. He took it to school the next day and harassed a kid with it. Big trouble!
I told him his next knife would be at 18 years old. He learned a lot in 10 years. He is a paramedic/fireman and carries a red Severtech at work. A guy learns to respect tools when you count on them for you
livelihood.
Anyhoo, I am glad you young folks are here, and the knife knowledge goes both ways. The older you get you find out that knowledge is not automatic with age. Keep asking questions and keep collecting. I am impressed.

18, not sure if you guys would count that, but i was 15 when i joined and had the same perspective. In reality the knife community is very diverse. People joined together in the love of blades, it's a damn shame that i get looked at like a psycho when i pull out an assisted opening knife in public to cut something but it's also cool to know that a 14 year old or a 50 year old with the same interests could as easily look at me and go "Nice Kershaw Volt" or "Is that the new Benchmade?". Though i've yet to have that happen i'm happy to know it may. The community welcomes all responsible blade enthusiasts.

I was born as a child, went through my puberty, now in my adultery. :D

Ah, if I could have known then what I know now!

Glad to see younger people are into blades too, most of my kids friends parents think I,m crazy for wanting to let my 14 year old daughter carry a knife, same remarks why give a kid a weapon, they will not see a knife is A tool can be a work of art, and is only a weapon in the sense that Anything can be used a one.
FWIW I,m 47 but act like I,m 12.

True! I'm a huge proponent of young people learning to handle and respect guns and knives at an early age. I wish I had but my father was not into them when I was young. It wasn't until later in life that I became interested.

16 Here. I got interested in quality knives about a year ago and have learned quite a lot a lot on this site. My "collection" consists of a Benchmade Adamas and I'm hoping to expand it around christmastime :D.

im 18, been collecting seriously for about 4 years i guess, but received my first knife around 12 years ago. have had a little of everything, but now am starting to get into full custom folding knives. collection picks coming soon

I am 13. Got my first knife at seven and have a humble collection of a few knives which I am trying to expand. (kinda hard without a job!)

I too understand, my parents are always asking what the interest is in carrying a 'weapon'. Despite me telling them very often that I use my knives as a tool. If I want a weapon I'll get some chemical spray or a concealed weapons permit when I'm of age

Edit: I agree, knives are tools. I use mine as tools every day.

Wow! Somehow haven't seen this thread until now. Had no idea there were so many younger guys (and gals?) here. I think its very cool to see a younger crowd here. I'm just out of my teens at 20 now but joined here when I was 15 or so. I've learned a lot in that time and Im sure you guys have and will as well. It's refreshing to see younger guys that are responsible with knives (or so it seems) and have a genuine interest in learning. I see so many kids who are just fools and think they are the coolest thing ever for carrying a crappy gas station folder.

Most of you guys here at least in this thread impress my, you seem to be more level headed and grounded with respect to knives, you ask intelligent questions, raise valid points and contribute to the community.

Good for you guys, you've genuinely restored my faith in the younger collectors here. Keep on Kremlin's on folks, you're the future of our community .

Did someone say teenagers! JK
