If you're sitting on the fence about a Strider - Get off of it!

I've had an Sng DGG for several years. Great knife.

I just got a PT. I got a lego since its the only version with a pocket clip. The F/F is topnotch. This is a fantastic little knife. I used it at work all night long. It will probably be my work EDC from now on. This is a seriously nice little folder.

I've had 3 striders altogether. No issues whatsoever with them other than the high price. However, the SMF-Sng-PT design is like no other folder, so to me its worth it. I think its still one of the best, unique folders made.

i just got my brand new tanto SMF tiger striped on friday. I must confess that i don't get the hype. It is a well made sturdy production knife, but really $500? my SBW DH custom cost me $550 and i can tell the difference immediately.

Time will tell, but G10 on a $500 knife?? G10 is for spyderco, nothing else (well that's my view anyway)

Congrats on the purchase, i am glad to hear you enjoy it more than i do!!!

You're right, they are expensive and certainly not for everyone. I feel the same way about CRK and certainly Hinderer, but those are indeed super quality knives. Throw a couple small strips of micarta on a Sebenza and they run $500. Worth it?, only the guy opening his wallet makes that decision. The G10 on a Strider is not merely a slice, but a pretty big chunk of milled G10. Still a lot of Ti there also.

The point of my thread was to speak to those that already have a hankerin' to go ahead and try one. I went through this with CRK and never regretted owning them. If a knife consistently gets your curiosity then try them out. There is (usually) very little loss with these mid-techs should a person decide it's not for them.

I was so-so about Strider for a long time and just recieved my first yesterday, a PT CC. I love this little thing so far. Now I have a hankering for a DGG SNG!

Figured as someone who has served in the military you might want to take a look at who you are supporting when you buy these knives.

This one is getting old. Yes, he likely screwed up. So did I. So did you. Get over it. Strider AND the Marine Corps collaborated to make the Strider SMF/NSN in 2003. It was the official folding knife of the SOCOM DET 1 unit of the U.S. Marine Corps. Tons of Marines have carried Striders in the SandLand; many were given free by Strider. It's a damned good knife; I've had maybe twenty. Their Customer Service beats ANY company you can think of, and the warranty if for the LIFE OF THE KNIFE. How many Striders have you owned? How many has Strider rebuilt for you completely free of charge? Do you know any other company that will do that?
I'd appreciate it if you didn't hijack a man's good thread to press your own opinion. Whine and Cheese section would adore you.

I had to get an SnG too. Lightweight, strong, sexy, opening hole, great steel selection, and a no BS warranty.
I was happy to discover that it wasn't a sharpened pry-bar.
It may or may not be worth the price, but that is what you have to pay, so I did. I know I've made worse decisions with $400. ;)

Mick's past... He screwed up, he apologized to those that mattered, let it go. Internet drama doesn't present the entire story anyway.
I just like knives and Mick isn't Hitler.

Obviously your opinion, but I still refuse to buy from him. And plus IMO they're fugly knives.

I have no personal experience of the knives and I most likely never will.

I will not put my money into the pocket of an habitual liar, violent criminal and charlatan.

M.Burger didn't even make a year in the military, never mind all the spec-ops lies.

The owner of this very forum provided many facts backed up with evidence, no Internet drama and M.Burger apologised? When was that?

Do you wonder why there is no strider sub-forum here.

Nice pictures, RetiredGuns -

Love the XD - I have one coming and I am looking forward to receiving it.

Thanks for the pictures.

best

You win. I concede.
I like your kitty avatar. :)

Can we have our thread back now? (Don't answer that.)

Isn't the PT a great little knife? I just love mine.

It's the first knife I've had in a long while that I immediately knew would be one of my all time favorites.
This knife hasn't left my pocket since I got it.

If I could keep only one of my small folders it would be this one.

I've bought lots of nice folders this year, this is the best yet.

totally agreed. i think they are wirth trying out and as you said if they turn out not to be one's cup of tea then the market is relatively good so little money should be lost.

Can you guys just let a fella enjoy showing off his knife and take the comments to an appropriate thread or perhaps start another one?
^^^^

You guys are missing my point. No need to pee on everybody's parade everytime (gasp) Strider is mentioned. Guy got a cool knife and just wanted to share his excitement. What a bummer to be pumped about a new knife then inevitably have it come down to morals and ethics which is not in the OP and has squat to do with the thread.

If there's a doozy of a Strider thread, post up in there till your blue in the face, but don't be a bring down brigade everytime a guy is digging his Strider.

FYI if you wonder why they don't have a sub forum here anymore its all in the archives below. Nothing to do with any scandal.

Congrats on the DGG brother and thank you for your service!

There's a thread about this I assure you, and its a doozy........ but don't mind me, here's some pics.........from google.

Well since it's relavent to the op's subject, the company founders record is the only thing keeping me on the fence. I would love a SMF but I can't support MRB. I'm sure everything stated about him isn't true but the fact that he can't clear up anything is enough for me. Yes, we've all made mistakes but please.
