I'm about two clicks away from ordering a Gayle Bradley! Good decision??

The Gayle Bradley is amazing, and probably the best value around right now.

I use mine as a beater at work and it's amazing what it's held up to. And if I do ding the edge a few passes on the Sharpmaker has the M4 ready to go again!

The nice thing about rust is that it only matters if you collect knives. Those of us that use them, a quick hit with steel wool or emery cloth and it is back to perfectly acceptable user shape. You are really missing out if you have not tried out Spyderco's heat treat on M4. Here is a thread that should push you over the edge: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...ayle-Bradley-Hard-Use?highlight=Gayle+Bradley
Yes especially if you get older version with full liners heat treat should be a notch higher.Amazing blade well worth every dollar spent, great user.:)

Saw a new black blade pm2 pop up for $120. I have passed the last three times I had a chance and kind of regretted it so I just pulled the trigger before I could talk myself out of it. It's on the way. That gayle Bradley looks awfully nice, but I just decided to go with the tried and true pm2. Plus i think the hype got to me. The fact that I couldn't find a pm2 made me want one! :-).

Mr. Bradley himself explained that the lack of a cutout was to reduce the risk of accidental release especially when you torque the knife.

And this CAN happen (try giving lateral pressure or rotating your hand on a deep cutout liner lock towards the lock bar side while gripping tightly).
While I do not see this type of accidental lock disengagement occurring with normal use, the point is that it is possible in a perfect storm moment.
More power to y'all with the mods, but I like my GB just the way it is-- haven't had any problems disengaging the lock :D

Surfingringo, well you cannot go wrong with a PM2 either
Gotta say though, could it really be considered hype if the claims are true? :)
BTW, if you do decide to order the GB over the web eventually, I recently noticed that Cutlery Shoppe is advertising their stock as being the "latest version - 5.3 ounces vs. old version at 5.5 ounces."

Well you certainly didn't make a bad choice and the Gayle Bradley is easier to come by right now than the PM2. Once the euphoria of the PM2 purchase wears off you will be ready to pick up a Gayle Bradley to continue the knife high!

I'll just leave this here.

This knife is one of my favs: the M4 keeps a nice fine edge for a long time, and is fairly easy to work with, one of my fav steels. I've had no stains on the blade with minimal maintenance, although I don't take it surfing I am up in the mountain creeks and streams a lot. This knife feels more like a fixed blade than any other folder, it's that stout with liners that rival many frame locks in thickness. It's also fairly lightweight for it's strength due to the CF. Overall an excellent knife for the price, A+.

I don't own a Gayle Bradley personally but have held one at a local knife shop. It was pure quality. I was thinking about getting it until I saw the price about $210.

You can hunt a little and snatch them for 110-130 $.It is worth every penny.:)

It's all about the steel! I absolutely love M4. For me personally, it's a super great steel. I live in Nevada, so rust isn't an issue. I find that M4 gets freaky sharp, and stays that way for a good long while. I cut hay strings everyday, and hay is hard on blades. Properly sharpened M4 runs through them like butter. Try a GB. You won't regret it.

I finally caved and clicked. Thanks guys. Gayle Bradley on the way along with a few others.

A while back I got my Gayle Bradley NIB, tax and shipping for around $140. A great deal when you consider F&F, M4 steel, and carbon fiber. I've put this knife to work at my job and it has exceeded my expectations & looked great doing it!

Looks like the OP decided against it but Barman, you chose -- wisely.

The GB is a great knife--screams quality, good feel & one of the best Spyderco's.
