I'm about two clicks away from ordering a Gayle Bradley! Good decision??

What's the deal with the scales on the Gayle Bradley? I know they're Faux CF, but are they tough? Are there replacements readily available?

its a CF laminate over G10 so yeah they are tough and spyderco should warranty it if it ever failed somehow

I have the chapparal with the same handle materials and I haven't had a problem yet their Taiwan factory puts out good stuff

I'm a new guy to the forums, but saw your mod to the Gayle Bradley today. You did a great job on making the liner lock more accessible. Can that be done with a Dremel tool, and did you disassemble the knife while grinding the clearance curve?? How did you keep the carbon fiber scale below the S/S liner in the relief curve?

And this CAN happen (try giving lateral pressure or rotating your hand on a deep cutout liner lock towards the lock bar side while gripping tightly).
While I do not see this type of accidental lock disengagement occurring with normal use, the point is that it is possible in a perfect storm moment.
More power to y'all with the mods, but I like my GB just the way it is-- haven't had any problems disengaging the lock :D

Agreed! And I like my GB the way it is too.

Simple illustration of what can happen with a liner lock with a large cutout.

Took a little time to do some bevel work on the first M4 steel I have.
Started with 10 degrees, then 12.5, and finished with 17 and a light leather strop. Crazy sharp now. The only blade I have that might rival its edge is the Caly 3 Super Blue but that's a slightly different animal with a FFG.
Time to put the Techno back in the Spyderpac and carry the Bradley for a while.

My experience is that the CF handles are pretty tough and don't show wear marks as easily as G10 or Titanium. YMMV.

I did a lock access mod to my GB also. I took mine apart and clamped the liner in a vise and went to work on it with a dremel and grinding wheel bit. Be sure to wear some kind of respirator when grinding the CF scale, as breathing that stuff is very bad for your health.
