It's been awhile sence I was on the forum but I would like to come back and be part of the group. I left under a stressful time a long time ago and would very much like to apologize to anyone I rubbed the wrong way. If there is anything I can do to make it up to you guys please let me know. I have been looking back and reading the old threads and feel very bad about how I handled lots of things and Hope you can find it inside yourself to forgive. I was in a real bad place financially and was under so much stress. Add to this to my young age I handled you my friends very poorly. Times have changed for me quite a bit and I have learned so much. I am maried to a wonderful woman who holds the ranes of the knife business. I have been making knives in the background this entire time. She handles the money and shipping I just make the knives. It works much better that way as I would tend to get scatter brained and put things off WAY to long. I no longer take payment for knives up front. That combined with my ADD was a bad combination. We have moved to washingtion state and live on 25 acres in the mountains right off the Columbia river. I have a nice blade shop all set up and running smoothly. If anyone feels like I own them anything PLEASE contact me ASAP, I need to make things right.

Welcome Back

I know how that can be.
It really helps to have someone who can help you organize things.

I think Teacher want's his little plastic tube :)

JTknives,
I do not know you, or your past, but feel inclined to comment on your post. It is a very courageous act on your part, and very clear that you no longer intend to live in denial. The world needs more folks that can recognize their own short comings and be willing to go through steps of change. Congrats on finding yourself and a good lady!

Hey JT! Where ya been man? I think the last time I saw you, you were building a 50 BMG?

:D

I figured you just got bored and wandered off, as folks sometimes do.

Lets see, things are different than they were a few years ago

There is way less drama here, no quench oil wars etc.

There are more new hobbyists and fewer knowledgeable makers

Fitzo, Kevin, Tai, David, Dan, IG, Bruce and a bunch of others are gone. I don't know, but Fitzo may actually be gone. :(

Nick Wheeler became an even bigger big deal, but is taking a break right now.

Andy Roy became a big deal. He's in the guild, and last I heard had ten people in his shop?

I can't rememeber if you owe me anything or not. Probably so. I think you owe me one million dollars

You can send that by paypal, but you'll need to send it as a gift or cover paypal fees.

Nathan the 50BMG was actually done away with and made into the infamous .700 WTF. It made a big splash in the gun world and is all over the net. Seams like when someone makes a 15lb rifle that shoots 1150gr Bullets at 2000-2300FPS people pay attention.

As to the shop let me see if I can dig up some pictures BRB

This is what has me drooling, a shop out in the sticks where I could bang on an anvil all day long and not bother a soul. Very nice looking work as well, thanks for posting!

Welcome back! I wasnt part of this community when you left, but i think its a happy place. A lot of things have changed though since I have been a member. People seem a lot more willing to help each other out, Aldo sells pre made san mai, and there are teenage material dealers! Can you believe it!

But really, welcome to the forum. Whats done is done, and the only repentance is through action. Im sure you will be a great member of the forum and the larger community.

I Concur, ^^^ :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

I really like that Hawkbill Pruner blade too! Also don't worry if you pissed anybody off around here. It was easy to fall into flame wars over BS a few years back and i just stopped coming here.
Not that I've never ever been abrasive or an ass to anyone on a knife forum! :D

Keep up the great work!

Did you make a stainless kmg clone and have a tiny car with your knife making decals on it? If so welcome back, I really liked the energy of your posts, if not welcome back too, I am confusing you with someone else. :)

Oh yeah, you're the guy that made the stainless KMG clone. That was cool, I recall you as an interesting projects type of guy. Good to have you back, congrats on the move, and props for the straight talk. There are guys who flame out of the smithing community, that never come back and apologize, or make stuff good - it's a real shame. I can recall one guy in particular who was one of my favorite makers ever, that got behind and made enemies and left, never came back- heard he's succeeding in a different industry. That sucks for two reasons- seems like he could probably apologize and make good, but he's not- and, we never get to see new knives of his anymore.
Welcome back!

I'll forgive you, if I can stop by some time and visit your shop. (I don't really remember any bad in you leaving, I just thought you got busy living and machining guns, etc).

I still have plenty of that 5160 bar I got from you in Provo.

That big chopper we ground out has still not been finished! I've changed it to a convex grind, took away the subhilt with the hole in it.

Good to see you back!

Looks like you have a nice setup there plus the support and a good attitude to come back strong. Where are you along the Columbia are you? I'm a eastern Wa guy. Chris

Hey JT... you may not know/remember me, but you were one of the first makers that I happened upon when I very first got into just THINKING about making knives. Your websites and videos helped me tremendously to get the ball rolling. I enjoyed seeing your progress and a maker/machinist, and always wandered what happened/what you've been up to. I think I recall a few machining and/or gun vids here or there. Hope to see you more around these parts!

Yes I'm the one that built the stainless KMG and yes I had s tiny car (Mini Cooper).
Funny you brought up the cord wrap DVD. I came across it when we where packing to move, watched s little man I was young. Wife got a kick out of it.

Did the knife makers subscription go up? It's been so long I don't remember what it was.

Welcome back JT! YOUR SHOP AND PROPERTY look absolutely awesome!!! Keep those pictures coming.

-Jim
