I'm back and want to say I'm sorry.

Hey, in the grinding picture, behind you to your right on the floor, are those large bearing races? I have some similar but even bigger ones, I have made lots of knives from the rollers but haven't tried the races yet. Have you made anything with them? I have been curious whether the races are 52100 as well.

JT contacted me and asked how he could come back. I told him to be straight up and be a mensch, ... and he would be surprised at how well people let the past go.

I am glad he was well received. He was a regular here. Hope he does well and sticks around.

JT, top of the page has a header - "Paid Subscriptions". That's where you go to ack as a Knifemaker/Service Provider.

I told him to be straight up and be a mensch

Mensch, I had to look that one up.

Mensch (Yiddish: מענטש‎ mentsh, cognate with German: Mensch "human being")
means "a person of integrity and honor."[1] The opposite of a "mensch" is an "unmensch" (meaning: an utterly unlikeable or unfriendly person).

Good move JT moving to the boon docks where the power equipment doesn't get on the neighbors nerves is a good thing.

Glad to see you back; this place can use your energy.

Fred

I build drums and drum kits and have been part of a drum building forum for years. Seen a number of talented builders get behind and eventually disappear while still owing people money. Never seen one come back on that site.

I like the way you are doing it. Made your apologies, set up to pay back those you owe...took responsibility and making it right. Then it's off to the future. You can't change your past but you can darn well learn from it. I think you are doing a great job.

I have not used the races yet as I still have plenty of roles. It's amazing how much steel is on a roller when you move it around to where it needs to go. I will show people a knife and say it's forged from this and hold up a roller bearing. Thy are shocked, so you just hammer it alot thy say. Yes lol I just hammer it alot. But yes I believe the races are 52100 as well

Welcome back. It takes a big man to step up like you did. I fondly remember your SS KMG build and still have drool stains on my desk. If I recall you put up a few how to grind videos that helped me out quiet a bit. As was mentioned this place could use your energy.

man that looks like a dream setup you've got there. 25 acres in the mountains making knives with a wife that helps with boring part of the job and lets you have all of the fun. Doesn't get much better than that.

Welcome back i don't think I was part of the forum when you had your falling out. Every body has done a few things in there lives that they are probably not proud of, but it takes a lot to do what's right in the end and I think most people on here will applaud you for doing what you can to fix what once was broken.

JT, IIRC, you got into big bore guns. Got any shots of those .75 caliber rifles you made?

Ok here it is, biggest one I built so far.

Here is what it shoots

I have shot some big rifles, .50BMG and what not....but holy crap. I would end up 15 feet away with a dislocated shoulder if I shot that!!!!

How could you not be at piece in a place like that! The setting looks so serine. Nice to meet you and even though we've never met welcome back!!!

Jay

Well 2000FPS is easy to hit with the 1150gr bullet and that's sitting at just over 10,200 FT/LB of energy
The gun can go up to 2300FPS which is 13,500FT/LBs

After you shoot a few 2000fps loads your happy. The 1200fps loads are real fun to shoot and you don't even need the break for it. 1200Fps is 3,676 ft/lbs which is the range of magnum hunting rifles in power when you consider a full house 300 win mag load hits around 4,000ft/lbs
