I'm back from the WLC Winter Survival Course. PICS INBOUND!!!

Excellent stuff! Looks like a great time.

I'm really curious about your thoughts on the JK Bushcrafter. Review coming soon?

Great pics Kev! Glad your back! Those Brian Andrew modded Axes are great eh! I love mine.

Aggie's cooking is excellent, but I can only imagine how much better her warm meals would taste after a day out in the cold! Must be like biting into a lil piece of heaven.

Kevin,

Looks like a great time. Have you ever posted the contents of your pack here (inquiring minds...)?

Hey guys,

The bow saw was just a generic model. Nothing fancy, just functional. I haven't posted the contents of my pack yet (coming in a review of my Tailgunner I on Woodsmonkey!) The food was even better in the cold Tony. The temps were not as cold as it could have been but it was still plenty cold to highlight the need for good gear, skills and mindset.

Good stuff Kev, …but after seeing the photos I had to turn the heat up.

I love that shot of Jerry in the snow shelter.

And that shot if you with the “Winter Goggles”; always the reserved and dignified instructor.

Did you get a chance to use that ASH siguy pimped for ya?

Great pics Kev. I cant wait till I get to go....

Jake,

I used the Busse as my batoning blade. Inside my shelter, I couldn't swing an axe (maybe a hatchet) so splitting wood that way was the way to go. 5" diameter maple was no problem and after making quite a pile, the blade still shaved hair. Simon did a nice job for sure. Too bad more of those blades don't come convexed to begin with.

firewood for my stove all quartered thanks to the SIGUY convexed Busse ASH-1. BTW, I read what happened while I was gone. When the cats away...what happens?

Hey Kev - Is there a functional reason you chose to stack your firewood in that manner? Does it help it dry faster, etc?

I agree. Great stuff, glad you had a good time brother.

myright,

The wood was already dry. I just stacked it that way to keep it neat and tidy. If it were wet, this method, like others, will keep air flow through the stack and allow for drying. The wood stored under the stove really dries it out even more and warms it up before being thrown in the stove.

Again, there are a lot of ways of stacking wood and this was just one quick way.

Awesome pics Kev. Thanks for sharing.

Stove and Tipi from Titanium Goat. DJ is the man! He was able to get my complete setup to me in less than 3 weeks. Way to go brother!

Very interesting. Looks like a lot of fun but not for me......I really dislike the cold. Yes I know, I live in Illinois but I still don't like the cold.
