Well, i've been in a delusion of owning this and that. I wanted a ZT 121, a strider, spyderco, etc. I realized christmas is coming around the block and i need to be on a budget. I have many 2-3 fixed blades for work, a fairly new Cold Steel Counter tac I for self defense. And i said, heck i'm getting a plain jane Glock knife for outdoor activities. It's cheap $30, and it's pretty practical.Even more it's a Glock, i'm a Glock dude. And the other thing i wanted to ask you all, do you guys really use your $70-100+ knives?Like, pound it on the wood, cut wood with it, and just plain smash it? For me i'm getting a $30 Glock knife, just staing cheap for my next buy. :foot:

i dont have too many $70-$100 knives, but those i do own i use.

i also use my $500+ knives.

Heck yes! After all thats what they are made for. Heck I cut up coax cable and heavy comm wire with a $300 emerson. Price has no point if it can't be used as a tool.

I beat on my BRKT B1 fairly often in the woods and on weekend excusions in the mountains in the summer time too

The glock field knife is a great beater knife, its the one that gets beat the most along with my JK Hiker. Don't expect it to be any sort of a good cutter but it will take a lot of abuse, its also a great throwing knife.

And to your other question, yes, I even put my higher priced knives through the ringer, maybe not to the same extremes but close.

Kabar -USMC........beat the hell out of it...it's like a timex!! It does everything I need. It cost about $20 more than the glock knife but I think you'll like it more.

I like the Glock field knives.

I have both a desert tan Glock Model 78 and a black serrated Model 81 in my hurricane survival bags. Light in weight, but in use I have found them to be very tough knives. The carbon steel blades have a durable black non-reflective finish, are thick and strong enough for some heavy prying, chopping and batoning, and can be sharpened to a very decent field edge. The polymer handles are very strong and are, at least to my hand, very comfortable.

I also like the sheath - like the knife, it is strong and lightweight. It securely locks the knife in place, has a drain hole/ tiedown point and can be attached to a number of different belt sizes.

Not fancy or expensive, but I think they are both very good general purpose knives - and very underrated.

Of course, some might say I'm biased..... :D

How do your Glock's shoot? I have one but it was $450 and I don't really want to shoot it.:D

Just kidding! It got a scratch so I sold it.

Haven't used those Glock knives, but when I played with them they seemed pretty good for the $$$

I personally use the simple ideology, Glock is not a knife company. They do what they do well, but they aren't a knife company.

Personally I'd drop that $30 into a knife making company over a firearm company. That's just me though.

Hmm...Glock didn't start out as a gun company either.....and look where they are now.

I wouldn't be so quick to knock the Glock knives until you have tried 'em. I can tell you from personal experience that they make excellent field knives.

They might be inexpensive, but they are not bad.

I use a Bill Burke Pronghorn all the time. I think they go for a grand or better these days but I bought it long ago.

I have a Glock knife that I've also used. Not too bad for a defensive knife but it has some drawbacks as a field/bushcraft/hunting knife. There are other inexpensive knives that I believe would perform that kind of work better.

Get ready to do some serious work with a file and some corse stones to get in good enough shape to cut.

If you convex your glock, it gives a lot more function and becomes an actual knife.

I had a glock knife and sold it. It was a pretty good knife for the money.

I use all my $100.00 plus knifes, even use my $450.00 plus Busse knives too

I've got six of 'em here, one of each color in each blade type.
Did a little testing earlier this year, the edge is far from the best as a pure precision cutter, and the bayonet style blade is not the most efficient for meat processing.
But, it's a tough knife for pounding into wood (edge or tip), digging a small fire pit, cutting & shaving tent pegs, limited sawing (sawback not the most efficient), notching, drilling, and shaving fuzz sticks.

Also digs small one-man firepits in rocky dirt reasonably well.
The black one I did most of this with isn't pretty any more, but it still runs.

Tom- I hear there may be a short blurb on the Glock Field Knives in the next Glock Annual......

I'd like to pick one up to try out, but I just got a new Ka-Bar, so I think that niche is filled for the time being.
