I'm going pig killin this weekend.

screw the meat.... hogs cause lots of problems to farmers. That's why I'd hunt them. Not to eat, but for pest control.

Why do we entertain such Jackassery? Everyone with a knowledge of the outdoors, hunting, and wildlife management knows we cant leave nature alone. Without propper managemant and harvesting of certain animals, (ferrel hog) they will overpopulate, bread bad genetics, become ill, destroy property and crops. Not to mention they bread like Wabbits!!! I think hunting, and eating wild game is fine. As long as you respect the animal, consume its meat, use ethical methods of taking the game, and respect the land on which you are hunting. Hunting is more than that to me. It is a spiritual connection to the earth. Every thing on earth is alive. wether it be a plant or animal. Everything on earth consumes something else to live. It is mearly a cycle of life and death. If we lived a thousand years ago. Would this NATURE PROTECTOR tell the lion to leave nature alone and not eat me. I dont think that the lion would even reply on this thread. On a lighter note. I just started bow fishing last week. Its really fun. hunting while fishing. wow I must really hate nature!! and my new rc-4 is a great filleting knife. Please take my response with a smile and a laugh. I dont get mad when people try to love nature, no matter what this person says. At least nature preservation is on his or her mind. Education is the key. And maybe we have shed a little light on the subject.

Well, I'm back from the weekend hunt. I let the air out of 7 hogs. Two were realy good size boar with some good tusks. One of those bastards looked like a VW coming at me. The .44 MAG lever action made quick work of all of them. The guys I went hunting with were a great bunch of guys. I didn't know how we were all going to get along since they didn't know me except for my buddy who took me. After I started pulling out knives and getting the guns ready to head out, they took to me just fine. It wasn't long before we were all sitting around a fire passing around jars of pickled eggs and mason jars of homebrew. Every night, we started out with the best intentions of being good and before we knew it, the shine came out and sh@t got outta hand. lol. In addition to the hogs, we wanted to make a few stews so I got out the Saiga 410 and picked out a few squirrels, a bunch of good birds, a dillo, a devilpossum, a big ass snake, I think thats about it. All in all, it was a really fun weekend. I'll have this corn headache for a week, but it was worth it. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures. Everytime we headed out, I left the camera thinking I would take it next time and the other times I just forgot it. I did get a couple of pictures with my phone from one of the nights when we were all trashed on peach mash and ran out of firewood. We started throwing everything on the fire we could find. ...even if that meant having to stand. lol. My buddy Larry that went with me said that he has some pictures on his camera that he'll bring in tomorrow, so I'll load those when I get 'em.

Congrats on the hogs. You keep any of the meat?

I wasn't5 breathin in ANY of that smoke. :thumbdn: That stuff will kill ya.

Yep. We cut out backstraps, hams, a couple of tenderloins and took the rest to the people up the road. They are some poor folks using an old shed as a house so they could use all the meat. A couple of the guys told me that they always drop off their leftover parts with them and that they are actually pretty good at completely dressing out any animal so nothing goes to waste.
