In May I'll be going on vacation to Florida. I have most my bases covered. I'm bringing my Glock 19 plus 40 rounds hollow-point. My Benchmade 551 Griptilain for back-up and a Spyderco Delica for utility.

As the title says, I will be going to a water park and here are my questions.

(To clarify, I am not bringing all this to the water park I was considering just one knife.)

Will the Delica be fine in my swim suit with all the water or will it be prone to rusting?

If so, what knife should I buy for under a $100?

Plain or Serrated?

Drop point or Hawk bill

I have been looking at the Spyderco Tasman salt fully serrated, If I do get this one should I get black or yellow?

What color would be less aggresive?

Thanks for any help.

The Salts are safer in water, good excuse to get that Tasman, man.

Go for the yellow. No one would believe a pretty little ol' yellow handle could conceal a deadly weapon. Besides, you will be in the land of sunshine! Brighten up!

The Delica would probably be fine as long as you dried it well afterwords (chlorine will probably add to the corrosiveness of the water) but why not get a Salt series just in case ;) then you won't have to worry about it at all, I'd go with yellow (easier to find if lost on the bottom of the pool) and serrated since its h1, it will improve the edge holding ability. As for hawkbill or drop point, which ever you prefer really.

Get A Salt.
I'd Get One In Yellow. Though Black Would Be Easy To Find As Well.
I Wouldn't Take The Risk Of Rusting The Delica Up And Ruining It.

I'd Get A Pacific Salt PE But That's Just Me.

I have a small crock stick that I know how to use. Will it be abrasive enough to take care of H-1?

Tarzan usually carried a large fixed blade into the water... (showing my age)

H1 doesn't have a lot of carbides. I'd say ease of sharpening is on the level of 12C27. You could sharpen the thing on a brick if you want to. Though I'd imagine the serrations would complicate things.

You will need a large knife, preferably over 9 inches to defend your family against rogue sharks that are known to attack at water parks.

Don't worry that will be taken care of by the AR-15 strapped to my back.

thanks for coming down to florida. make sure you spend all your money, we need as much as you're willing to give up.:)

if you're gonna be in orlando/kissimmee and are staying on i-drive, obt, or 192 the glock won't be enough, nor will a little folder. don't worry though obt hotels have armed security with bullet proof vests and such. i-drive and 192 keeps them a little more dressed down as far as battle gear goes, yet they are still heavily armed.

salt all the way, but be careful. if spotted your likely to get tossed out of the waterpark. most of them have a zero tolerance on knives. also don't stick your head under the water at the water parks there is more pee and chlorine in there than water.:) actually i am not kidding about that.

This is a joke, right?

That's great.

Naw but seriously I'm from Fl I'm guessing your going towards Tampa or Orlando? They have lockers w a key you can safely secure your stuff in. I would not bring in a gun. Leave your knife and any other gear in the locker, a lot of the rides/slides are serious and can jar a clip loose and aside from losing your knife what's worse is it possibly coming open and hurting someone once out of your possession. Unless you just plan on sitting around the lazy river on terrorist lookout

Get a yellow Tasman Salt with PE.

I've had one for years now and keep it in the office for tasks. It is hidden in plain sight due to the yellow handles. Office women know to come and borrow "that yellow knife" if they need to open a carton. Never had a problem sharpening it on the Sharpmaker.

If you are visiting the Orlando/Kissimmee area parks, it is really safe inside the parks and adjoining resort hotels. Outside, it ain't so great.

I have a black Tasman Salt PE I carry into the ocean (Thailand, Philippines), but they can be knocked out of your waistband--you may want to tie it to the string on your shorts with a lanyard. Just cut it free if you need it. The markings on the Tasman do rust, but the rest of the blade won't.

Then again, I was up against some pretty serious waves. Lost a pair of prescription Ray-Bans and even with three people helping me, they were nowhere to be found.

You know you're in a room full of knife nuts when...

1. Someone asks about packing a knife in his Speedos at a water park... and no one thinks that sounds a little crazy.

2. ____

you fill in the blank!

I think you should go to the water park and NOT carry a knife in your trunks. That's kind of creepy to me, and it may fall off and you'll lose it. Don't carry the Glock either. (much as I love Glocks)

But if you do, bring the Delica and don't worry about corrosion. Just dry it off afterwards and apply a drop of oil to the joint.

what water park are you going too to need all of this?? I live in fl and all of the parks that I know of will send you back to your car if you tried to get any of that in with you.

P2P do you have a concealed carry permit in your state? If so do they have reciprocity with Florida?
