I'm going to a water park.

In May I'll be going on vacation to Florida. I have most my bases covered. I'm bringing my Glock 19 plus 40 rounds hollow-point. My Benchmade 551 Griptilain for back-up and a Spyderco Delica for utility.

As the title says, I will be going to a water park and here are my questions.

Will the Delica be fine in my swim suit with all the water or will it be prone to rusting?

If so, what knife should I buy for under a $100?

Plain or Serrated?

Drop point or Hawk bill?

I have been looking at the Spyderco Tasman salt fully serrated, If I do get this one should I get black or yellow?

What color would be less aggresive?

Thanks for any help.

So this is a vacation? Something you're doing to relax?

You're really planning out which knife to take to a freaking water park?

You know, anything that is a positive force in a persons life will become a negative force if taken to the extreme. If you can't enjoy yourself at a waterpark without a knife (to be used for what purpose I cannot even guess), then it might be a good idea to really analyze whether your hobby has started to take more from your life than it gives.

Just a thought from someone who's been there himself.

cheers

I suppose if there's a restaurant in the water park itself you might have cause to use your knife. Though I would agree that the risk of having the knife open up and cut someone is too great to chance it. Maybe a pool or beach perhaps(not surfing), but water park would be the wrong place for it.

If this dude is for real then I hope he reads your post. Couldn't agree more.

A neck knife is the only way to go! Maybe a fanny pack to carry your gun in too! Sounds like a great vacation.

My friend has had his delica in his life jacket for two years and it shows no signs of rust. He is a rafting guide in Clearwater BC. He is in the water daily for hours on end.

Also his line of work can get pretty dangerous and he has yet to use his knife to save his life or something serious. So I think going down some water slides and sitting in a lazy river will be safe enough to not carry your EDC.

Let me clarify a little.

No I am NOT bringing my gun to the water park. That is for my stay in Florida. Yes I have my CCW.

No I am not a mall ninja. The only thing I was gonna bring to the park was one knife.

I find it to be a very vital tool in an emergency. I feel naked without one.

Is it really insane to have one in a pocket that no one can see?

If you had a cargo pocket on your swim trunks and a rust free folder in your house, do you really think you wouldn't take it with you?

I think I have just created a scenario that make some of you knife fans go without a knife, even though its completely legal. Perhaps this thread is informative in many ways.

I understand the complete uselessness of having this knife on me with a one in a billion chance in needing it. Then why do I still care so much in taking one? Maybe I take the "always have a knife" to another level.

thanks for coming down to florida. make sure you spend all your money, we need as much as you're willing to give up.:)

if you're gonna be in orlando/kissimmee and are staying on i-drive, obt, or 192 the glock won't be enough, nor will a little folder. don't worry though obt hotels have armed security with bullet proof vests and such. i-drive and 192 keeps them a little more dressed down as far as battle gear goes, yet they are still heavily armed.

salt all the way, but be careful. if spotted your likely to get tossed out of the waterpark. most of them have a zero tolerance on knives. also don't stick your head under the water at the water parks there is more pee and chlorine in there than water.:) actually i am not kidding about that.

I don't seem to since sarcasm in this one.

yeah bro it is a little intense and honestly i dont see it being legal. im pretty sure under substantive law clause youll find that they have regulations for the park stating no weapons allowed and if caught and le is on the scene you could be removed and cited. not because youre a killer but because if it is lost and very possible if a child picks it up and cuts themselve or it falls out and opens and a kid slices an artery open going behind you on a slide its 100% your fault. its just common sense bro. thats why ppl are getting on you. no one is going to mug you in a water park. i feel naked witout some self defense tool on my person but at a water park its not safe.

As dangerous as a water park?!?

;)

Choose something you don't mind leaving at the gate as a tip for security. Then, plan to leave it in the car if you actually want to get it to the park...

Sounds like advice from someone who's actually been to a water park. :)

I am glad I have made this thread. I have not completely changed my mind on bringing one, but I am definitely rethinking my options.

only in amerika. i am going to go with the strawman scenario of "the kid picks up the knife and goes on a murdering half of Florida with it and declares himself to supreme ruler of florida." thanks alot P2P!...

vg-10 should be fine. I personally would leave my knife in a locker or in a secure pocket if I wasnt riding on slides. but each their own... and you know if i was a little kid and i found a delica i will be super stoked!
