Im looking at getting a neck knife, whats your opinions or what would you recommend?

To me a neck knife is a very small blade you can always wear and forget it's there ( or at least not be a bother ) when your not using it, that is used for small quick tasks like tape boxes or string.

Anyone who feels neck knives are uncomfortable would change their mind if they carried the one I do.

It's 2.5" long with a 1" blade 1.5" handle, it's about 1/16" thick and about 3/8" wide.
It weighs basically nothing and is so handy and useful for many things. ( FYI I hold it flat with a Sabre type grip )
It's not exactly primary edc sized, but if it was about 4.5" long with a 2.5" handle and 2" blade you could be confident in it as a primary edc.

I think ideally you're gonna want something 5" long or less 1/2" wide or less , and under 1/4" thick that doesn't have scales if you want something that will go completely unnoticed around your neck. 👍
You're not looking for somthing too small, but take it from me who's been carrying this neck knife and the previous smaller one that I made every single day for over 2 years without issue.
For tape , string, and packages...ect you'd be surprised just how much a 2" or less blade ( especially a 1" blade ) can do.
Most people just won't get what they want out of a neck knife because that want too much out of their knife and can't get it in an extremely comfortable package.

I like the size of a necker, but for pocket carry, just handy. I have always liked Duck Childress knives. He has had a lot more on th exchange lately. There was a link to one of his knives in the first page of this thread.

Im kind of with Hickory n steel here im looking for something that wont get in the way not a full knife just something to have just in case i dont have a folder like when im at home. Maybe ill look back into the Spyderco Panchenko Dog Tag. I have always like the CRKT Folts Minimalist and its very inexpensive so i think ill pick one up and go from there.
Thanks for all the recommendations you guys picked some awesome knifes to look at!

Another good value I have liked are the small hunters by Austin Goldman.

Since when? If someone wants a recommendation for a neck knife I assume they want to carry it around their neck. Sure a neck knife can be carried other was and some small knives can be carried around the neck but if they ask for a neck knife.......it should be a knife that can be carried around your neck, even designed to do so!.

So, where exactly did the OP state the knife is to be worn around the neck at all times? "Easy access" does not always infer hanging from a chain around the neck, although it may be what the OP is asking for. On the forums, quite often people refer to neck knives as 2-3" blades, but they seem to be carried in a pocket or a pack most often. Still a necker right?--as its as the maker intended, but perhaps not how the buyer will carry it. I have a few neckers, they don't go around my neck. I still call them neckers as many others do.

@SCWillson i was thinking around $100 or less. I have quite a bit of Spyderco they are my go to brand when it comes to knives. I've always like the design of the Brous Silent Soldier. I would be using this knife for more basic tasks as opening boxes and packaging etc. Looking for something small but not too small like the Spyderco Panchenko Dog Tag. (thats too small in my opinion)

I'm a Spyderco fanboy myself, and my EDC folder is a Spyderco Dice, which I love. My Brous' role is two-fold: 1) It's my concealed carry knife anytime I'm out and about. 2) It's my wear-about-the-apartment general use knife when I'm wearing sweats or undergarments unsuitable for a clip-on knife. Both of my Silent Soldiers are the wharncliffe design. I wear it everywhere except the shower. Great little knife and handy for opening boxes, butting off loose strings, and all the other little things we all do with an EDC blade.

Well i figure that most people who have neck knifes carry them 24-7. I apologies that i did not stat that sooner i just assumed this fact. From what ive heard so far it seems that most people that buy "neck knives" are just looking for the small fixed blade to carry regular.

Thats actually exactly what im looking for like ive stated, something to wear around the house to open things. Ive ran into this problem many of times im opening something at home while not carrying a knife so i have to go get one or use a kitchen knife. I already wear a necklace at all times so im use to wear something around my neck. Have you ever tried the SOG Specialty Brous Series Snarl it looks like it just cheaper and my SOG.

Thanks for your input.

I carry mine 24-7 . Ever heard of the crkt Doug Ritter rsk mk5 ? ( originally meant for Altoids tins, but started to come with neck sheaths ) camillus has a copy that's often very cheap at Walmart, I believe the vent is also made in China so the steel is probably the same.

I carry an Evans Knife & Tool Companion around my neck pretty much 24/7, and have worn a necker for about two years. As you've already seen by comments dismissing the whole notion (with extreme prejudice, no less), it's not for everyone, so try it with something inexpensive to begin with. A CRKT Minimalist is a good option, since you can get one in your favorite blade shape and not break the bank.

I wear mine under my outermost layer of clothing when out in public, but don't find that it gets in the way "flopping about" (or any other such nonsense) even carried out in the open. I can always tuck it under my shirt or slip it into a pocket, if I want.

If you find that you like the carry method, then after the Companion, I'd say my favorite production knife in your price range would be the White River Backpacker. If you care about steel, its S30V is nothing to sneeze at. The overall length of seven inches is the top end of what I personally find carryable, though, and even then mostly because of its wide, flat kydex sheath. On the other end of the spectrum are little guys like the Böker Gnome and Spyderco dog tag folder.

Other good options, already mentioned and which i own and have carried, are the Izula, the TOPS MSK, and the Enzo neckers. (Though I found the polished micarta grips on the Enzo to feel like sandpaper, but that's my own phobia.) CRKT makes some more exotic-styled options, and custom knifemakers aren't too expensive in that size range.

Again, give it a shot, and remember that the worst-case scenario is that you have a small fixed blade. Most of them even come with clips, or at least accommodate a Tek-Lok.

I got an amazing Darrin Sanders CPM 10V neck knife off here for $95. He takes orders, might be a little more than that price though. There are lots of production neck knives out there, that H1 neck knife sounds like it would be good. Also, something kind of weird I do. With my very small folders, I take some paracord and make a necklace out of it and use the pocket clip of that folder to attach and detach it from the necklace. Kind of a makeshift folding neck knife. That's if you don't want to carry one in your pocket, or if you want an extra knife for a certain task.

Thanks guys! I guess from my own opinion and experience now while i was at work last night i carried by little Spyderco ladybug on my necklace and attached with a lobster claw swivel clasps. It was so light and small that i didnt even notice it so im leaning more something smaller yet comfortable it the hand. I would prefer a fixed blade with a sheath that way i would have to unhook it every time i wanted to use pit. I kind of like the crkt Doug Ritter rsk mk5 and the Böker Gnome something small light but usable for its size.

Thanks again.

I have in fact considered buying a SOG Snarl, which is based on the first generation Brous Silent Soldier design. But since I already own two Brous blades, I can't see much point in dropping $35 on another knife of the same design. I'd rather use that cash to buy a better custom sheath for the Brous. (The included sheath, while sturdy and having good retention, can only be used for neck carry or right hand horizontal carry due to its poorly angled clip.) :)

Be aware that the Snarl is thicker than the current generation Brous; 1/4" SOG vs 3/16" Brous. Not saying that's a bad thing, but it will make the Snarl heavier.

I see a couple people above have suggested the CRKT Minimalist. I have one and it's a neat little knife; almost weightless. You could do a lot worse for a small "carry at all times" neck knife. I used to carry it with the sheath sandwiched vertically between layers of my duty belt. I see they are now making them with a stonewashed finish and black G10. That's how I'd go. (I liked it enough to consider getting an authentic Alan Folts-made one, but the waiting time for a true custom one was absurd. Like, years.)

You can also find (or have made) a kydex neck sheath for your favorite tiny folder. I've considered it for one of my alox SAKs or keychain MTs, but since I prefer fixed blades in general and have one I really like, I haven't gotten around to it yet. Just a thought.

Another thought, the AG Russell Hunters scapel or the bird and trout if still made. Forgot to mention the AGRussell Woods Walker, come in leather pocket or a kydex sheath. Unless I missed it, did you decide on one? Let us know what's you go for.

Wearing a neck knife can be a pain in the neck, when it all day long; I mean this literally. I prefer light & small. Mind you, I have tried a good # of neck knives over the years!! I found MY perfect neck knife (It may not be perfect for you!); it is the Todd Begg Tree Frog. It is light, very sharp, and comes in a kydex sheath.

I have a VERY well traveled Busse Skeleton Key that is the only "neck knife" I have ever been comfortable with. I probably use that little piece of INFI more than any other.
