I'm wondering if it's possible to get a knife, fixed or folding, that sports a CPMS30V blade and is under $100. I really like experiencing good steel and this stuff sounds really fun. If it's possible to get some for under $100 can you suggest some knives that fit the bill? If not, can you suggest some knives in this price range with some other great steel? Thanks!

I bet you could get a Spyderco ParaMilitary or Military for under $100 used pretty easily. Though a new one is only a bit over $100 anyway from most internet dealers.

i got a new spyderco military (black blade before they were official) a few months back for $95 or so from some police website or other. a spyderco native can easily be had for $70 or so. it's frn, colorado made, s30v, and my edc. i just like the way it fits my hand. it's also not too big and definitely not too small.

hope it helps

Cabelas is offering several Bucks including the 110 in s30v.

The 110 is 59.99.

I'll second this recommendation... it's a fine knife!

spyderco native is only about $60. paramilitary and yojimbo are under $100. mini grip is under $100 too.

If it should be "some" S30V and not a S30V version of a specific knife, then I agree with spyken and shanshui75 - You can find a spyderco native for 58$ shipping (USA) included. I found nothing cheaper.

to be honest, I prefer VG10. The finish is nicer than S30V and the difference in edgeholding is not noticeable to me....

spyken: I can get vg-10 stupid sharp... can get s60v sharp enough that it doesn't feel sharp with the thumb check but will shave and slice for days on end.

Given the choice of vg-10 I'd take ats-55 though, softer steel(more forgiving). I've had s60v chip on me once(my military was running a 30deg edge on the greys and steeled for 3 weeks straight).

In a blind test, or light cutting most of us won't notice a difference it's when you push the toy to see what it does that you notice. With the same edge(30deg edge, spydie whites, de-burr 5 strokes each side on 40deg greys), ats-55 deflaps 60 boxes... vg-10 150 boxes and 440v did 200-205... thats the numbers before they started to tear the cardboard. Those numbers are all on serrated spydies, 3" range.... was working at BK and doing 80-100 boxes a night.

Spyderco Native or Military are the 1st to come to mind. I saw a fixed blade hunter/guthook (Buck) at Cabelas for a little over $100. Also, Buck makes a signature series, I think it's the 805ss that is a small bowie type knife, New Graham has it under Buck - Limited Edition, I believe.

You have to scroll down about half way...
I am not the Chuck Buck that owns the knife company, nor am I trying to sell you a "Buck" knife for any reason other than they make one the fits your requirements. My name is Charlie Buckalew, hence, Chuck Buck

Don't forget that the Dodo is under $100 as is the Native. Benchmade makes a small fixed blade in S30V that's under $100 too.

Get the Benchmade/Ritter Mini-Griptilian...Trust me on this.:).

So where does one get a Benchmade Ritter Mini Griptilian? I haven't been able to find them at some internet knife stores I know about. Also, this one is made in the US, right?
