I'm looking for some CPMS30V under $100, is this doable?

I just checked out the BM Ritter (558) and I want one! But isn't this a little weird, the only dealer of this knife being a medical/aviation/outdoor website???

Yes, I think so. Why can't you shop around for a good price like so many of Benchmade's other knives? There has to be another place to get a Ritter.

Most of the story is at http://www.equipped.org/rskmk1.htm, but let me take a stab at explaining.

I have wanted to do a knife for quite some time. What I wanted to do wasn't considered commercially viable by any manufacturer I spoke with, too boring, too big a risk, too small a market. I was unable to interest anyone who I consider a quality producer into producing it for sale through their usual channels. Les was willing to produce the knife I wanted made, to my specs, but I'd have to buy them all and sell them myself. My knife, my risk.

Two problems with that. One, I don't have the bucks or credit to buy the minimum production run, not even close. Two, I didn't have the desire to get into the e-commerce business. Brent Blue, a longtime friend and Equipped To Survive supporter, offered to take the considerable risk and he already had the e-commerce site and was set up to service the customers. I knew he'd take care of the inevitable hiccups and that was also critical. Thus the RSK Mk1 was born.

Brent's gamble has paid off, for which I am extremely pleased. Those who can appreciate the qualities of this knife can purchase one at a reasonable price. Perhaps not as cheap as they'd like, but the vast majority seem very pleased with the RSK Mk1 and many have said it compares favorably, in terms of performance, with knives costing two or three times or more. That was the goal. That, to me, is how you define the value. I am extremely gratified by these comparisons and the positive reception for the RSK Mk1 and the Mini. It's not often that you aim for something and hit the bullseye on the first shot. Were it not for Brent, there would be no RSK Mk1. He deserves to reap the rewards for the risk he took--and still takes every time he orders another run.

I hope this explanation helps you understand how we got here and why Aeromedix remains the sole source for these knives. Thanks for the opportunity to explain.

You can get a Wegner Mouse with G-10 scales for underr $100 also. It's a great little flat ground lockback.

Even the Wegner Pro-hunter is under $100 for the G10 model, from some dealers, if you can find it. Ya, forgot about that one :D

Thanks for the explanation, Doug. A great story of how you produced a great knife after being told to forget it. For $99, the Mini RSK Mk1 is a bargain - no need to "shop around". They also have the full size discounted to $104. For an S30V AXIS lock, that's a great price. I know what I want for Christmas now! :D

Don't forget the Shiv works lil' loco. Its all s30v and around 60 bucks. s30v thumb dagger, way cool!

There is a Chinook II in the "For sale" forums right now.
I think it was $80.00.

So where does one get a Benchmade Ritter Mini Griptilian? I haven't been able to find them at some internet knife stores I know about. Also, this one is made in the US, right?

www.Aeromedix.com is the exclusive distributor of the Ritter Griptilian and the Mini Griptilian.

Let me know if you have questions.

Yep, I got mine from bladeart, after this Anthony character MADE me buy one! It is very nice. :D

You can get a NIB S30V Spyderco Military for around $85 on eBay, great deal. The Ritter sounds like a good deal too, as does the Wegner Pro Hunter. Some superb choices under $100.

Well I'm glad we got the Ritter issue straightened out! And after all the discussion about knives with S30V blades, right at $100 for those Ritter folders does seem like a real fair price. Before this thread, I was starting to get discouraged :grumpy: about not being able to afford some S30V, but now I feel a lot better! :D
