I'm new to this... First Serious Blade

Just double checking. I try to keep up on new steels being used in production knives. :)

Have you used the 13C26, S60V and S30V versions enough to compare their performance side by side?

^Thanks for the prompt answers to my probably stupid questions, cleared up a lot for me

Still looking for a store though, if they're based in Canada it would be the best though from looking at the prices, New Grahm has the best by a few and one stop knife shop ships UPS only, the other one you mentioned doesn't have the blur I'm looking for unfortunately. I went over the New grahm FAQ and it says they will also ship USPS on special request so... Aside from what I will be charged at checkout how much more should I be expecting to pay in custom fees, taxes etc. assuming USPS

sl, you'll find all the answers to these questions here.

Since the S60V Blur was a 14 piece run and I was lucky enough to snag one, I havent carried it or cut anything with it. It sits in the gun safe. As for the 13C26 vs. the S30V, I find the latter holds a useful edge longer.

14 piece run? Pretty limited run, what did they stop at 14 for?

Does the 13C26 Blur get any sharper than the S30V when you sharpen them? How much do they burr compared to one another?

Thanks for the feedback!

For somewhat heavier knives, i do think that the Kershaw Tyrade with its composite blade looks totally awesome. And it should be really well built as well and tough (titanium handle). If you check the ebay shops you can find it (I removed the link) for slightly higher than your budget[/URL].

Dragon your link is to a site that is on a blocked list for spyware. I will report your post. Please edit your link

 It's just a link to an ebay auction. I'm not sure why he would use tinyurl when he's making a hyperlink anyway, but I'm not seeing any spyware here, unless there's something my security is blocking without telling me about it....

Here's a link directly to the ebay page: http://cgi.ebay.com/K1850-Kershaw-K...VQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em118Q2el1247

That should be safe even if the redirect from tinyurl isn't.

There is no knife I would recommend for you over the Caly 3 / UKPK line of knives from Spyderco. I have yet to come across a better EDC, and I have been looking. If you didn't live in Canada I'd offer to mail you mine to try out for a week or two. The Delica is good but the choil and full flat grind of the Caly 3 work much better for a knife of this size in my opinion.
No doubt Soyderco makes good knife though to be honest I really don't like the look of the blade and the hole in the blade doesn't help either. If I get another blade after this, it's gunna be a Delica or Griptilian I think.

I tried looking, the only stores I could find are warriors and wonders and they don't got the s30v blur.

Thanks Couger... Zonealarm reported the link as a spyware site and blocked it on my PC. I did not investigate beyond that.

sorry guys.
I wanted to put a link to an ebay store as this model was at that dealer only a bit above the budget range. I do think it looks awesome, and it is a bit heavier (as requested), that's why I recommended to check it out.

About tinyurl, yes indeed I didn't need to use it here, I am used to posting tinyurl links on other forums (on other topics than knives) as it's user-friendly, and that's how it accidently got there. I always thought that it is pretty useful and I didn't know it is considered as spyware?

cheers.

update: meanwhile I checked http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tinyurl which is quite informative. The one issue with tinyurl is the fact that the destination address is hidden, and that's how it can possibly be misused by linking to spam sites.

My first serious knife, meaning one I didn't "borrow" from my dad or uncle without there knowledge;) or cheap chinese junk, was a spyderco delica. Leading me to believe Spyderco is a great starting point for any serious knife collector.

 ^ Why do you have to make this so hard!!! I like the look of the 520, I thought I would get the blur but now the 520 looks good also.

Welcome aboard sl.124. Off the top of my head, it sounds like Benchmade is right ul your alley. Their axis lock is superb IMO, and generally, their knives look a little less ''threatening" than some of the others, Not to bash any company or imply anything.

Okay, that explains it -- Justabuyer's firewall is being really hypersensitive about warnings, that's all. Go right on using tinyurl -- of course it can be misused, but just about everything can be misused.
