Im not a fan of benchmade, why should i be?

Below are my 760BK L-Ti and 710. The former has an M4 blade - great edge-holding - and a subdued enough American Tanto, thank you Mr. Lum, that even a Tanto-disliker like myself, can like. Great frame-lock of that nicely sized Ti frame, if the 710's AXIS Lock is something you aren't fond of. Nice D2 blade, too.

My most recent BM is the 755 MPR - great knife, if a bit stubby and lunky for some - I like it. I like BM's!

Stainz

They are nice knives, but, before the price increase, they were overpriced: now I don't even consider them because they are WAY overpriced

I haven't read the whole thread, but you don't have to like Benchmade nor do you have to buy their knives. But why limit yourself?

Benchmade, Kershaw (and ZT), and Spyderco make some very nice knives that I like a lot and others that I don't care for so much. How can you know if you'll like a knife if you don't use it? Just based on looks? Either way, buy what you like and don't buy those you don't.

Plus, I do like their initials. ;) I'm a fan of the Axis lock. It makes one handed opening and closing of my Ritter Grips very easy.

I haven't read it either but to put it bluntly but I couldn't care less if you like BM or not. And that goes for any knife company even CRK which happens to be one of my favorites. And I don't mean this in a rude way. Get what you like because you're the only person you have to please when it comes to your knife hobby.

I just don't see it. Yes they don't have many cheap models but when you buy a Benchmade you are going to get the same materials and craftsmanship that you would get from any other similarly priced knife from Spyderco(or Kershaw, ZT, etc). They also are the exact same price as before the new pricing policy if you take the time to make a phone call or use a coupon code. All they did was implement a pricing policy which requires a store to advertise a certain price but they don't have to sell for that price. On the other hand ZT requires their knives to actually be sold at a certain price and can not be discounted.

I could not care less if someone doesn't like Benchmade, but to dismiss them because of their new pricing policy is silly when they can be had for the same price as before from certain retailers.

Edit: As an example the new large Bone Collector with machined G10, skelotonized liners, D2 blade steel, and AXIS lock can be had for about $92. Great price for an awesome knife.

Benchmade, like all the other makers, have good designs and not so good designs. What I consider a great design could be just a good or even a horrible design to 100 other people.. It is really just a question of personal needs and individual opinions, is it not??

not a fan either. i'm just not attracted to any of their designs. they're just nothing special to me, and for the prices they charge, the knife better be pretty damn special :P the only one that i've ever stopped to really look at was the onslaught and i still probably wouldn't buy it..may trade for it though :/

why wont this thread die!?! I still havnt gotten a benchmade and i was all about the 755 then i held it and the lock up sucked. really loose

I really love my large rukus. Just a great quality blade and probably the nicest bm folder for me.

I also like the bali's.

But with the purphase of my 2 latest bm's the QC was not wat it had to be for some 180 dollars priced knives:grumpy:.

Rough unfinished handles, unsharpened blade, and latch problems with other bali:thumbdn:.
These knives were n.i.b.

On the other hand my 32 morpho has great fit and finish and has the quality a benchmade should have:thumbup:.

My next bm purchase could be the unslought;).

I like BM,s as whole,,overpriced I think but then I think any knife ov $20 is overpriced, lol,I now you normally get what you pay for in the long run, but with my budget it sucks that I cannot afford a good Busse, or Stryder, or a Sebenza, or an endless number of other great knives,,I have 3 BM,s all lower end knives as the price I paid for them was not a huge amount,,I have a BM Harley knife that is my main edc,,I like the size, the assisted opening is just great,,it takes and holds a good edge, but I carry a CS Black Rhino as well edc,,I guess I jus tlike all knives,,some a lil more than others,,but like them all,,I have a freind that has a berber of some make,,I have tried to sharpen it several times,,and I have another friend that has the same knife,,one I can sharpen to a great edge,,but the other jsut ignores my attempts as getting it sharp,,,, I guess thats straying a bit,,but it jsut popped up in my thoughts,,I like to feel that the name is not what decides a choice of knives for me,,I like to hold it in my hands get a feel for it before I buy it,,but here in south alabama there is not alots of choices that I can put my hands on so I resort to ordering online,,and then most are after reading about my fellow knife lovers here have ot say about it,,,benchmade makes a great knife,,in my opion,,just saying

I have'nt read this whole thread either. OP If you don't like BM fine.
Buy what pleases you.
I like Benchmades. esp. auto spikes, DarkStars, Strykers, MMMmmmm! :D

I held a 940 over ten years ago, and was hooked. Hold one yourself and form your own opinion.
