I'm pissed! Cancel all my PM2 preorders.....

To think that just a few months ago I couldn't get more than $150 for my blue m390 sprint.

Makes my happy I picked up one at the last spyderco sale for 40$. Can't wait to do it again!

I wish I could make it to the factory sale... It would be great if Spyderco offered the sale of seconds on their website. Not everyone can make it to Golden.

I feel for ya man, im spoiled and live only 45-60 mins away :)

I sold of my production Para 2 models that I had before the shortage .I used the money to purchase the Orange and the Blue sprints.I am glad I made the move and figured I could always buy them again if I wished at a later time. I will practice patience and I am sure I will acquire most of what I desire. I don't think I made very much profit if any at all when I sold the regular production models.I would not feel right If I had not passed the production models on for a fair price.I am doing this for the love of it and not for my benefit at someone else's expense. To each their own, and who am I to judge?

Count me as another waiting for the hype to die down. Some models on the big auction site are going for twice retail and up!

Some people in this world have real problems, like divorce, cancer, or unemployment. Just saying.

People always LOVE the free market when it works in their favor. When it's not in their favor, it's a scandal. ;)

It will be OK.

All this. Spyderco knives didn't exactly "make the cut" for Maslow. Right now Spyderco is riding high on the incredible demand for these products--good for Sal, Eric and Co.

What I dont get are people paying the crazy premiums for the sprint para 2's. I mean c'mon. It basically comes down to different more exotic steels since different color G10 doesn't warrant any extra cost IMO. The stock S30V version can hold its own against any other para. And for $100 thats the para I'd be after out of all of em.
And call me crazy but I still love the para 1. You can find some great deals on them every now and then.

Supply and Demand. For every one of us on this thread saying "I'm not paying over inflated prices yadda yadda etc. etc". theres 10,000 people out there that will pay the extra money for a Para2 and us getting on the podium on this forum isn't going to make one bit of difference out in the real world..I guess it does make us feel better though..

The Blue M390 PM2's are going for crazy money:eek:

Paying twice the msrp of the base model s30v just because of a different steel is crazy if it's to be a user. I promise no matter how great m390 is, it won't outlast two base s30v's. If your buying for collecting purposes, all bet's are off - free market rules, not sanity.

A buyer pulls the trigger when the value of the endorphin rush exceeds the value of the cash. This has nothing to do with steel or G10.

Those prices are just nuts. I guess if that's what people are willing to pay, then that's what its worth, but I can't see any justification for spending that much coin on that knife.

Maybe I should sell my digicam one while there's a shortage....:D

Right. When retailers overstock or a product fails to sell at expected prices they lower the price, sometimes repeatedly to move inventory. Nobody bemoans the loss of revenue on the retailers part or offers to pay more than they're asking, yet when retailers raise prices in the face of strong demand to keep product on the shelves people have a hissy fit.

This is exactly what's happening with the ammo shortage. Some retailers are doubling and tripling prices and people throw around terms like gouging, theft, robbing etc. If you don't like the price then DON'T BUY IT. It's as simple as that. Would you rather have the ability to get something you really need/want albeit at a higher price or not be able to find it at all? The schools have done and do a poor job of teaching economics in this country.

Luxury...you want it now..pay up.

Not really a luxurious knife, so perhaps convenience? Sort of like when people have a custom knife from Jerry Hossom or Ken Onion in hand for sale at $100.00 more than what you can order one and wait a year for?

Still ain't paying it! ;)

Freedom - freedom to pay the price that you may think is too high, or freedom not to. There are other fine choices in a knife right now. And who is driving the market? I say it's the buyers. All of those marked-up knives would be sitting idle were it not for people paying the prices that are being complained about.

Think about it. If I'm a seller and folks are beating down my door to by the Para 2 at $120, AND I know I'm not going to be able to restock them anytime soon, why would I not test the market and see what it will bear? Makes up for the dollars I will lose when I run out too soon. Sellers don't owe anyone any charity, suck as it may for the buyer.
