I'm pissed! Cancel all my PM2 preorders.....

Oh yeah? Really... Cool! you don't say! Well ain't that something.

Have no idea how this could happen:confused: I've had some since they came out, and have never been pinched/hit on the index finger. Not even sure what you mean by "hit".

If you insert your index fingers into the compression lock cavity....far enough, when closing, the choil on the ridge will hit your index...look at this picture of the PM2, you can actually see the blade choil..

A buyer pulls the trigger when the value of the endorphin rush exceeds the value of the cash. This has nothing to do with steel or G10.

Truth'd. I just laid down a buck fifty on a brown Para 2. Is it worth that much? Well, to me it is. I saw it was available and jumped on it. Yeah, I could've waited, but it sure felt good clicking that buy button. :D

Try removing your finger from the lock before it fully closes. If it doesn't fully close seat the blade with thumb as you would with a liner lock. It will never hit your finger that way.

When i asked, Spyderco they said the PM2's are being made. Im sure a lot of you have heard the same answer. The question is where are they? They have been unavailable for some time now. Are they just sitting on it and waiting to release a huge amount at one time?

Whatever. I called Spyderco last September and got told the same thing..that was after I had 1 on order for 5 months prior to calling. Same old story..

The Keebler elves are on strike! Didn't you hear? Let me ask this...How big a company do you think Spyderco is? Do you think they run production 24/7/365?

SAL I see you in the forum :P Any chance on getting an update on the fluted ti native? Thanks and keep up the superb craftsmanship, I love my new super blue caly :D

Hi Estate,

Please accept my apology for your displeasure. I although I strongly believe in the free market, I also believe that Greed is one oof the deadly sins and should be avoioded by intelligent, social humans. Some feel the need to take advantage of any situation. :o

We are building and shipping Para's every month. We are also working on a few directions that will help us catch up with the demand. We can only ask that you be patient. You really don't have to pay scalper prices. You can always strike. Atlas shrugged?

We don't set our pricing on the theory that one should charge as much as the market will bear. Our pricing is quite consistent and dependent on our costs. We would hope that our distribution chain does the same. We also don't try to price fix.

I purchased a car that I wanted and paid a premium price. The dealer knew he had a desireable item in short production and high demand. While I paid the premium and enjoyed the auto, it kinda rubbed me the wrong way and in time, I never bought another car from that dealer. I noticed 10years later that the dealership had changed owners. Always wondered if their practices contributed.

I ended up in an argument with a distributor in another country over his "overcharging" for a Spyderco model that he felt "he could get more for the model". He ended up changing his pricing to "normal", but I don't know that he ever agreed with me.

Hi Bile Bob & Armithius,

Welcome to our forum.

Yeah what Rev said, Spyderco isn't as large of a company as some of you assume. It's growing even now, and its nice to see the owner find time to hang out with us.

The secondary market is that way with anything that is rare and sought after, but Spyderco's pricing is consistent and they get the same amount for it regardless of what others charge to take advantage.

Thank you, sir, glad to be here! :D

I really don't see what the big fuss is. I've had several Para2s go through my hands. The last one I've got is actually going to a friend who digs Spyderco more than I do, and it'll be his third. They pop up often enough, you've just got to keep a decent eye out and be ready to jump on it.

I also don't see the real need to complain about this. You've got a knife, it cuts, so everything else is extra and recreational. There's no need, no dire requirement, just fussy whining. It's just like the people who complain about expensive knives, saying things like "well some of us don't have the money to spend on that!" when they cant afford a knife they want like it's the fault of the maker.

Can't afford it? Don't buy it and be wiser with your money. Can afford but it's in short supply? Be diligent and patient. This isn't life-critical stuff here, and a little positivity wouldn't hurt either.

People always LOVE the free market when it works in their favor. When it's not in their favor, it's a scandal. ;)

Maybe I should sell my digicam one while there's a shortage....:D

How true ! Its the law of supply and demand. I posted on another forum about this same subject. The best feedback a buyer can give to a seller if he thinks a price is too high . . . . is not to buy it.

Those who value the item more than the money its going for on the free market - will pay the price. So everyone gets what they were after.

I wanted a Spyderco Street Bowie for a long time. They stopped making soon before I 'discovered' the design for myself. The few I found on auction websites were very expensive. IIRC there was one going for 4-5x the last retail price. Too high for me; I thought I'd look into getting the custom version at that price. If the maker was even taking orders.
Well now Spyderco is making the Street Bowie again. Seems they had a request by the military to reintroduce it. Production is cranked up and so is supply. The price is much lower than what I woulda paid at auction a year ago. The free market worked great for me ! (I wonder what the guy thinks who paid hundreds for his used Street Bowie on ebay back then ?)
