I'm too polite to be a Hog

For some reason, this lil piglet gets offers (by Hogs and piglets) to sell their INFI all the time. I must be lucky, I guess...

:)

Lil Foo,
I do understand your post and how you feel. But don't let the forums get to you.

The Busse group is a great bunch, and what really helps is getting a chance to meet some of the other forumites. The internet is a poor way to communicate and sometimes things come across wrong. If you get a chance to attend any of the shows do your best to get there, then you'll have a better feeling for what people are really like. I have met hundreds of forumites and they are some great guys (and gals).

And there is still a lot of "helping out" that goes on, I've seen it. However, most of this takes place outside of public view.

Don't let any of the negative stuff bring you down. And thanks for posting your views

:D:D

I'm with Eric on this. As heretical as it might sound, I'd rather have the respect of y'all than any more INFI. I get more fun out of helping others find a nice piece of INFI than I do scoring myself -- in most cases.

I do use e-mails and PMs, but I hope I'm polite...and clear...in those communications. Certainly, I don't badger people to reduce their prices.

I'm here for the long haul.:)

I hope Lil Foo always feels he can get things 'off his chest' around here.

Yeppers! I can attest to this Hog's kindness in helping his fellow oinker..

OP is good people! ;)

Evidently no one likes any of my stuff, whenever I post pics I don't get any PM's or emails ;)

:D:D

hey, me either!! my stuff isnt that great anyway.

actually, i rarely get pm's or emails from pics posted here. a couple here and there, from longtime forum buddies, but normally just the normal "nice pics!" comment.

i dont mind offers on stuff, as long as they are reasonable, even on stuff i didnt post on the exchange. i understand that i may have that one knife someone has been looking for and have been willing to deal most of those in the past.

PM sent on that not so great SHBA with logo spine.

Ok, not really but I do want it. :foot:

So, I have a question on the appropriate etiquette for a piglet pm/emailing about a blade: is it OK to make an open-ended inquiry --

[example]Dear Master Hog, if you ever decide to sell one of your SHSH IIs, I'd very much like to purchase one, for a fair price of course.

Or, is it better to send a specific offer --

[example] Dear Master Hog, from the picture you posted I see you have 10 SHSH IIs, I'd like to purchase one from you for $800, since I have been looking everywhere for one.

Thanks for helping us less experienced Busse lovers learn the ropes.

Guyon,

I wouldn't say I was "smarting"; as it turns out the offers were just about that funny. So it was entertaining and best of all.... now and then I get to bug you about it:thumbup:

Tony G

Tony G is still smarting from when I posted his circle of Wardens on the SY forum. He wound up getting offers like...

"I'll trade you my old reliable Kabar and three field dressed chickens for a Black Tie Warden."

"Sis ain't married yet. Cudja discount one of them thar' purty knives if I huk ya'll up?"

"I can give you a promisary on my left kidney (I already donated my right) if you'll send me a Tiger Warden."

"I have a Spyderco with the same sized blade. How about an even swap?"

"I have a VW Microbus that is nearly in good running condition. While you'd be getting the better deal, I'll trade you even for ten of those Wardens."

i would think either inquiry is appropriate.

if you are asking about a knife you saw in a picture, though not on the exchange, just try and be polite and if you make a cash or trade offer, make it fair.

I've had folks come back way later and offer me a deal on a knife after I expressed interest. Someone just did so recently, in fact. Sometimes, I've been spread too thin to take the deal, but I always very much appreciated that they remembered me.

Likewise, when I tell folks that I'll get back to them if I decide to sell, I try to keep their names in a PM or email, and then make good on my word.

I'm not beneath sloppy seconds. And I have cash. Stop bogartin, Guyon! :D :D
