Images of the African bush

It kinda makes me laugh that I was sooo excited at the prospect of seeing an Elk when I was in the Ozarks last week.

Thanks for the pictures. Really stunning.

Well, I have never seen an elk so I would be as excited at that :D

Great pictures, thank you very much for sharing them . What a different world :) I hope to take a trip there sometime.

I get asked often ...how much does it cost?

We stayed for 7 nights at the South Africa National Park Camps. Basic but clean and dry. Hut for 2 people with a shower, toilet and small kitchen is around USD75 a night. Every additional person is USD15. Fuel is just under USD 1-00 a litre but car rental can be steep ....work on USD80 a day for compact with A/C. Food is about half price what you pay in the US.

Johannesburg to Kruger south is about a 420km journey. So if you have enough air miles to get here cheap and maybe also get a vehicle sponsored, a week for 4 would be under USD 1000. I would suggest at least 10 full day if you have never seen the Kruger. That would push it too around USD 1500.

BTW, Kruger is self drive so you take your own/rented vehicle ;)

Thank you for sharing your pictures! These are as close as most of us will get to come to Africa. I really enjoyed the explanations also. Cheers!

Great stuff! I like it when our fellow forumites on other continents post pictures, always great to see them.

Aaaaaah ....but the mystery remains as long as they never post an image of themselves. In this case illusions of great African explorers, famed white hunters and such comes to mind ...... now I would never be so cruel as to shatter that illusion :D

Nice try - but you have to double the cost to buy the 80-400 mm VR lens :D

That's right, wearing the old fatigues and hat and carrying a nice Purdy or H&H double in .477 nitro express. Please don't tell me that you don't fit that image!

If I could afford the doubles I would be hunting full time ........ but let's say my dreams are close ........ :D
