Images of the African bush

First off - thanks for posting the pictures -- they're awesome.

Now, can we go back to the rhino being lead around by a tether? I get that he was darted, but I'm quite surprised that he was so docile. I figured that any rhino that was energetic enough to walk around under its own power would be too dangerous to approach. Was this just the case of some really excellent pharmaceuticals, or are they just a lot less aggressive than I thought?

Aaaaaah ....but the mystery remains as long as they never post an image of themselves. In this case illusions of great African explorers, famed white hunters and such comes to mind ...... now I would never be so cruel as to shatter that illusion :D

Seems to me you already did that - a picture of you and the lovely Mrs Aubrey and the top of your son's (?) head. I know my dreams were dashed.

Excellent pictures, as always!!

Ok, they had about 10 people on the tether and the vet is at hand with a shot of stuff that will knock him down in seconds. He is still heavily sedated and also blind folded. He is brought back just enough to be able to be pulled upright and he did a kind of high step walk. The moment he is boxed, he is injected again to calm him down again but he has to stay upright. There is no other way of loading a rhino at over 4500 lbs without hurting him/her.

It was interetsing to watch as it took minutes to do this. Obviouly not their first rhino caught.
