Improved Arc AAA available soon..

... Considering all of these guys get screwed by M@g eventually, I would snatch a few of these up before Mega Tech Devices gets nailed with a lawsuit, too! :D

Is that what happened to Peter and Arc?

The was a lawsuit, but that wans't the only thing. There where supplier problems 3 or 4 times. Some people left the company. There where venders that sold for such a low price that ARC was loosing money. There was an extensive time when they had no product to sell at all. Ultimately cash flow, or lack of it, killed 'em.

I just got a NOS Arc of EBay, I wondered what the hype was, without a doubt it is a great light. and it sure beats those button lights, hell now I know what to do with all my half dead AAA batteries. :D

After doing the Surefires and the Inovas I think I'll probably settle on a new Arc when they become available.

What about repair for existing Arc owners?

I have a co-worker that has an original AAA model I gave him as a gift that has failed. I realize that the new company isn't obligated to assume old warranty repairs, but feel like if it's the same folks with roughly the same product coming to market, that there is some moral responsibility, if not a legal one.

Any ideas?

BTW, I still carry and love my original AAA LE model but am unhappy that my friend seems left hanging in the breeze.

According to Peter Gransee, the designer, he is repairing the former AAA production lights. I would send a e-mail .

Arc opened shop and is accepting preorders....http://www.arcflashlight.com/index.html
Pay-pal only at first. 2 versions of the AAA, original version and the premium version with 80% more light.

Keep in mind that Arc Flashlights no longer exists. Arc is now just a brand. My intepretation of it is that this other company has hired Peter G. to make flashlights again using his former company name in order to capitalize on the recognized name and the relation that he has with CPF members.

Personally, I'll wait till County Comm is selling them for $14 again. :p

Is the regular new version ARC the same brightness as the old version?
I'm not talking about the premium version, $40 is too much for my blood.
If it's the same, I'm keeping my reg arc aaa. too much competition in the $30 range out there.

Got mine today.

Amazingly brighter than my well-used and cherished Arc AAA Limited Edition.

Just recieved mine.... VERY bright for a single led. For something so small, very nicely finished. Now to find lithium AAA batteries at below retail ;)

Don't know if that's a good idea. I seem to recall that lithiums were not recommended for the old Arc AAAs as they would pass to much current.

Hit Candlepowerforums. I'm sure they have worked out every brand of every possible battery purchased at every store possible that sells batteries and tested them all out with graphs and other analytical stuff! ;) Those guys are dedicated junkies.

Thanks Chiro and JMX , the new version is quite fine with the lithiums according to the manufacturer and testers...and were there graphs!!
I purchased my fill this time of Arc AAA's. My interest in the lithiums is for my familys B.O.B.'s.
Something for which these lights are really suited for , imho only. Fortunately the Arc site is up, making availability easy to check. Without reading thru 50 often redundant posts. :)

Lith's rule. RAAA's are NOT to be used though. Can you say french fry? I'd never go back to Alkaline anyway.

>>I just put my order in and I hope there's no backlog.

Last count the backlog is 3 weeks.

I've got 3 Premiums in my hand now. Glorious.

I'll probably order some, but I'll wait until some of the backlog clears and I can order with a CC. (Presuming the backlog clears)

Ditto. Pay Pal makes me uneasy. I'd rather wait and use my credit card.

Nathan,

What makes you uneasy about paypal?

I don't yet have Paypal, but am considering it, and was just wondering.
