In case anyone wonders how sharp Bryan Breeden's knives are !!!

Pitdog, sorry to hear and see about you getting cut, but on the other hand you broke your knife in, it always seems to me anyways that I will cut myself no matter how careful I try to be.

heal up soon and I will chat with you later,

Bryan

lol bryan makes some crazy sharp knives. I cut myself on one of his little psk knives. that thing was a freaking laser. hope you heal up quick pit

pit I have to ask as I have never heard of anyone doing it before. what does the cayenne peppers do for a wound? I literally have thousands hanging in my garage right now lol.

google is my friend. for anyone else not in the know about it here is a little link with some info

Yep great stuff to keep in your PSK, even if you don't use it for wounds it still makes any meal taste loads better !;)

Eek! Bit of a scalpel I see.

Hope it heals well, oh and do be careful next time Mr Pit!

Put one good stitch in the middle of it. Be sure to make it deep so it won't pull out. If you are right handed, you may have to get her to do it for you. I've sewn my right knuckle back on with my left, but it took quite a while to get the stitches right.
Sorry but I disagree with doing your own stitches. Unless you're a weeks march from the nearest hospital it's really uncalled for and goes against the advice of every medical professional I've ever talked to. Suck it up and just go to the hospital. I mean it's Canada, do you even have to pay for a hospital visit?

Otherwise, cool knife.:D

I've cut myself down to bone on My index finders atleast a dozen times it dosent hurt but bleeds like a mother every time. Never been to a dr for it.

My dad works in a hospital, my mom was a nurse, I was in SAR, my buddy is a combat medic who's mother was also a nurse. I've heard countless stories of people who couldn't be bothered to go to the Dr only to be forced to go because the condition got worse. One guy lost a leg from a simple cut. To busy to get the infection looked at. Do what you like but my stitches come from a hospital.

Unfortunate indeed, but it can happen with any momentary lapse. I haven't been nipped for a long while, but it's coming I'm sure.

I don't give myself stitches I just ignore it and it heals all by itself. If I think I need less than 10 stitches duck tape and some antibiotic stuff is just as good.

and pit if you replaced that damn fire steel you might be better off too lol. that thing is freaking pitiful :)

Geeez bro, I thought I warned everyone about how sharp Bryan's knives come a few years ago. I have never handled a knife with a sharper edge than he puts on his. I do like the lines of that little knife a lot Pit, when your hand heals a little how about an in-hand shot for size ref. I think I want one of those for a neck kit I want to build.

Oh, and I could send you a new fire steel if you need one :)

I have a couple coming from Bryan and consider myself forewarned ;)

If you forgo Dr. visit, WATCH for infection or loss of sensitivity. I had a buddy damn near lose his finger from a small cut he got spreading wood mulch. Got some nasty bacteria in it form the mulch. Dr. had to split his finger and swab it out daily plus some strong antibiotics. He kept the finger and learned a bit about taking care of cuts.

Disagree all you want. Small wound care is not rocket surgery. I've never lost a digit or limb due to infection and I've had my share of cuts. What I do/have done is no different than what a doctor would do. Even if one went to a doctor, they will still be responsible themselves for continuing care of the wound until healed. Being weeks away from a doctor has nothing to do with learning a very basic life survival skill, IMHO. I've wandered around this old planet well more than half a century and learned many things. I am sure to learn many more yet. But I have learned how to care for minor everyday wounds myself. Anyone can learn it and it is a good skill to acquire.

Were you trying to strike the firesteel with the blade of the knife??? That looks like a nasty cut!! I just got my first spyderco (delica) for christmas and I got bite twice on christmas. i also got some Quick-Clot as a gift to, im thinking that will come in handy sometime lol

Wow..sorry to see 'Ol Bud  Hope it heals fast with no problems ! I told you a few weeks ago about how sharp Breedens blades were. Sharpest knives I have ever handled...no doubt ! & I have handled alot of different knives both production & custom;)

Have you talked to a medical professional about the risks of doing your own stitches? Tying a knot in skin is the easiest part of the procedure.
