Ed - The one on the far right has macassar ebony scales, cut from a large block that I have. It is one of a pair, the first two kepharts that Ray made. I showed him the original colclesser ad, and told him I wanted two. The other one has ironwood scales, I sent it to my brother. The finger guard area is supported.

Looks like a knife to me. Looks pretty traditional too. But doesn't look indigenous to north Louisiana (the wood or the knife). And it is a great work by the maker. Could you share who built it (the last one)?

Ed

its a Parang Lading, by AKO, an Indonesian knifemaker, the blades is a handforge damascus, i thing a gentleman by the nickname Mohd once post Ako's work too here on BF, not sure where tough.
here is another indonesian tradisional blade from him, great woods!

LOL.

Out of 300+ knives in the Accumulation, at least fifty have wood handles. Can't post them all...

But here is a custom set of three from Anza:

A couple of Silver Knights, my favorite line from Gerber

And a Kissing Krane that I recently scanned for another topic

Two more pictures that I feel strongly about.

This first one, the knife is nothing special, just a kit my brother made. But the oak wood was salvaged from a barn built by my grandfather.

And here are two AG Russell / Boker swing guards with unusual wood. The first one is amboynia burl and the second is bog oak.

(The bog oak has a much deeper color in real life. I really need to get a photo table set up.)

I've been enjoying this thread so far. There have been some real beauties posted here.
@Dan, please show us when that Barlow got darker eh? I bet that would turn out very pretty .

Here you go, a before and after picture. I didn't realize how much darker it was until looking at the pics next to each other. The blades are a little darker too.:)

The low Autumnal morning sun wasn't all that cooperative, but here's some desert ironwood and some stabilized buckeye burl.
