This is my couch. On it, the three best "things" to ever be part of my life. A distant second, of course, to family and friends.

I know this has nothing to do with anything, I just felt like sharing. :D Happy 2007 to all, and may I humbly remind you to count your blessings :)

Rather weak, frankly :( It's been years since I played in a band regularly. There's a certain level of precision that comes from playing hard rock and metal lead guitar for hours a day for years on end... those days are in my past :) But I like to think I still have the touch and soul... and I honestly couldn't stop playing if I tried.

I can understand that. Since I got to university, I don't play as much, so my speed is decreasing. Then you get frustrated and play less.

I was at the point of playing Malmsteen, and now I can hardly follow Metallica. :(

Nice. I'm currently thinking of ways to earn 400$ quickly. Fretless 6 string bass caught my eye. :)

love the explorer...but you spoiled it with the raiders decal... aren't you from wisconsin? I would expect a green bay logo as all you cheese heads are die harders - got to respect the dairy state. but I guess I would prefer raiders to bears...that would never fly in WI. (I lived in WI for 5 years)

'Tis true music has been used in many survival situations to keep up morale and pass the time. I've also seen survival books that recommend a harmonica in addition to family photographs for survival kits. I remember looking at some neat really compact acoustic guitars for backpackers and travellers. Nice collection there Gibsonfan, I can see you have expensive taste though I'm a bit more partial to Ibanez myself. Happy New Year.

I agree the explorer is muy cool, I don't know how to play the guitar but when I learn there is a Telecaster in Orange sunburst waiting for me! Rock on!!

Guitars now fall under Survival Skills? The Community Center would be a better fit.

Actually, maybe more than you think - guitar picks (at least the ones I've tried) make dynamite fire accelerants, just don't breathe the fumes. The smaller strings - excellent snare wire, the larger ones for cordage uses, such as shelter building. The guitar body itself - well dried and seasoned wood. Now before all you 'gitar men' have a stroke, I am not suggesting that you do this, but if it was necessary..................... :)

I meant to post this for GibsonFan before (about the guitar picks) but I forgot until this thread reminded me.

I've lost 30% of my hearing...:(

Protect the 70% you have left. And consider augmenting it if you can afford to. Music has always been a part of my life. Both listening and performing as far back as I can remember.

My bilateral hearing loss is genetic and environmental. I've lost over 80%. I think the jackhammers and explosives accelerated the loss. It could not have been sitting in front of the speakers at Black Oak, Who, Yes, Led Zepplin, and Alice Cooper concerts.

After many years of progressive hearing loss, I just got a pair of top of the line in the ear hearing aids (ITE HA's). $3500 is not easy to come up with. But they are programmable digitals and so tiny that not even my family knows when I am wearing them and not. That too is convenient. I can hear and enjoy music again. And hear my grandbabies yammer.
