Hi guys! :]

I live in Denver, and Colorado has the 3 1/2 inch blade rule. I am pretty sure the Buck 110 Folding Hunter is just a tad longer than that and I want to carry one around, all the time, forever and ever, because I love it so much and I love it, did I mention I love it? What would your suggestions be? Carry it around and risk the consequences? Do you think people would actually care? I think it is just a hair longer; I forget the specific blade dimensions. Also, I am brand new to knives, I know nothing. So if this question is really dumb, I sincerely apologize! ;]

Thanks a bunch! ^_^

My collection records show that the 110 Folding Hunter is 3.75". I also have a model 112FG that is 3". Take a look and see if that will work for you. I believe they make a 112 without the finger grooves also.

The 110 is listed at 3 3/4" so it definitely exceeds the 3.5 law. It can go either way, one cop might recognize the design and go "Put it away and don't let me see it again" and the next might go "You're under arrest"
Buck has some smaller similar models though.

/Edit: Stupid slow phone typing on my part :oops:

Hello again Woodsman! :] Thank you for all your help! Okay, checking that out now. I forgot to mention I'm still on a budget LOL :] But I'm willing to save for the perfect Buck; I seriously LOVE the 110.

Dayum B00n, that is scary-sounding af. It sounds like I have some options though, like you mentioned, and that the other very kind commenters commented to check out! :] Thanks b00n! :)

As others have mentioned, Id recommend the 112.

Question: Do you love the 110 or are you sort of on the fence in regards to that knife?

And because there are too few pics of Buck knives in this thread:

Naah BladeScout, I love the aesthetic and look of the 110. There's just something about that beautiful wood handle. But that photo has some pretttttty pretttty prettyyy bad ass knives; thank you for sharing! :]

Okay all; The 112 sounds like the winner: I just have to save a few extra bucks for it. Why would a smaller knife be more $$$ than the larger 110? That doesn't make sense to me.

I'm just south of Denver, lived in the city for years before moving to Elizabeth. I carried a 110 and others around 3.75" off and on while living there and there was never a problem. Stay away from federal buildings, courthouses, and anywhere metal detectors are being used to deter weapons when you're carrying it. Don't brandish the 110 when you use it, don't think of it as a weapon, and don't show it off too much when you're out and about with friends (I know, a new favorite knife and all that brass and wood and how can you not, but try). You should be fine with the 110.

It's a venerable design, twice your age, and not really menacing in looks. Cops will recognize it for what it is should it come to that. But if you follow these suggestions, you'll never end up in trouble with it. You will probably want a leather sheath, but if nylon works for you, Walmart still regularly sells the 110 for the under $30.

If you decide to go with the 112, and that's a great way to go as it's a terrific knife that can do everything the 110 can, you should be able to find one in the $20 to $30 range on auction sites. Denver also has some great pawn shops!

Let us know how you make out.

Not sure.
Maybe because they make a shedload of 110s (more so than the 112) and have done so for a looong time.

I am heading to Colorado this summer and will be taking my 110, as I have many other times. According to the law, as long as you carry it on your belt (not concealed) you should be fine.

"In Colorado you can own almost any knife as long as it is not a gravity knife, switchblade, or ballistic knife. All legal knives can be carried in the open. It is illegal to carry concealed a knife that is larger than 3.5 inches unless it is a fishing or hunting knife."

It's a specific Denver limit she's worried about, though. Still, you're right, it shouldn't be a problem.

I lived on 7th and Harrison for five years. Worked on 17th in the WTC buildings. When I carried the 110, it was usually in my backpack as I had to be in business attire. When I changed to go work horses, it went onto my belt. Nary a problem.

Are you familiar with how heavy the 110 is?
