Lets say you had one Becker Knife to rescue your family or protect them from harm. Which would it be and why?
For me its My BK9 because that's the only one I have. Would a smaller quicker knife be a better choice or would length
of blade be more important in a combat or fighting use?

Tough to answer. I don't view my Beckers as weapons, but rather as tools. If I needed to protect my family with a weapon a knife would not be my first choice in most situations. But to answer your question, I'd probably grab my BK5. Closest thing to a fighting knife I own. Once the RBKs are released and I get one, that would probably be the choice just for the intimidation factor.

Eesh, knife combat is a tricky topic. I've had some knife fighting training, and even so I'd go for a firearm or bat/club before a knife if one was available. Too much can go wrong at hand-to-hand distance.

That said, the 7 and 5 both offer a good balance of speed and reach, and the 15 & 17 will be very fast in hand and great for defensive slicing cuts.

BK9. Good enough as a fighter if I had to use it for that. Big enough to do big work efficiently, nimble enough to do small work pretty good.

I'd take....Ethan Becker! And a boat load of firearms.
We'd have a merry time galavanting about rescuing families and protecting others from harm. Lol

In all seiousness, if I had to pick it would probably be the BK5.

Probably my modded clip point 2. Clip point makes it a little better for skinning/stabbing and the thickness makes it more unlikely to break. That's if one BK for the end of the world /living outdoors type sitch for survival. Strickly for SD would be the 5/15.

In all seriousness, I'd grab the Becker (or non-Becker Kabar) that was in current residence on my emergency gear belt. That would be for holding up the belt while going for the .357 loaded with HPs and attached to the same belt.

I would go with my 4. Can handle just about any survival type task you would need to accomplish, as well as make a mean defensive blade

Too add to this, if a knife fight was inevitable and I couldn't avoid it, I would go in with my BK5 in my left and and my BK4 in my right.

In my training that I have received from my mentors... I'd choose the 15. Only because it's very tight in the hand due to the great ergos of the tweener handles and its the longest of them... I'd rather have th length of he 15 and clip point of the 17 instead for penetration but the 15 would create a less uniform incision which would develope less clotting :)
Stabbing is honestly one of the preferred methods. Slicing is good but it is a defensive measure.... In a knife fight there's rarely ever a situation where no one is unscathed.... So relentless attack is primary... Not so much of that finesse stuff we see, it's very close (like 5 inches width gap close usually) to perform slicing.
But yeah, 15 in my off hand because it digs the same damage as my primary, and the main hand to trap and stike.

My choice would be a bk7 for attack/defense/rescue.

It's a size, weight and blade shape that I'd be comfortable with for man or beast, good enough to penetrate clothes, soft barriers, fur, etc and be capable of some prying.

^THIS^
there must be a reason they named it the Combat Utility........ and with the addition of the 13 riding in the sheath it really makes a great one tool option.

I have a 12 guage a glock 45. and an Ar15 so obviously I would choose one of them, but if it was down to only a knife?
Reason I ask this is because I was thinking about getting another knife. I have the chopper the BK9 now I need to get her friend Stabby.
So far I think BK5 and BK15 are both tied for first with votes.

I'd take the 9 or 4, can't really choose, and give my girlfriend the 5. Probably put a 15 and 11 in the backpack too. Bending the rules :D

Any of these, but prefer the ones with the mags in the handles !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After getting my 15 I really think it would serve well as a defense weapon and no doubt the 5 would great also,( regrets selling his 5 :( )
