In need of a large stockman.

Warning, there may be a Texas Jack or two lurking in this photo of 4" Stockman pattern pocketknives. OH

Nice photo, B., I'll have to put together a composite of some of mine. It's fun to see them all together, like a bunch of greenheads on the marsh. ;)

Here's an old size comparison photo of original Schrade-USA Old Timer stockman knives.

858OTsizecomparison.jpg

From top to bottom:
Small stockman, like the 108 and 104
Medium Stockman, like the most popular 34OT
Large Stockman, 8OT size
61OT, a long slender stockman. It's the only model that ever used this frame.
858OT, the Lumberjack stockman

There's one stockman frame I neglected to include, the 58OT, which I think is a hair smaller than the medium stockman, and more serpentine-shaped like the 61OT.

Ya can't go wrong with a GEC #53 (4 1/8") if you truly want a large stockman.

Thanks Mamba!

SAK Guy - it is a nice knife - the equal of a Schrade 8OT; I gave that one to a buddy who was going through some bad times - he needed a shot in the arm and the Frontier did the job! OH

Ed, that is the nicest looking Turkish Clip I've ever seen on a big Stockman - very nice! OH

It's been raining and humid as all get out today, so this is the best pic I could do of some of my stockman collection.
Except for a few mediums, these are all 3⅞" or bigger, and I've carried nearly all of them at least some.

I love this Canal Street serpentine stockman. 4" closed, American Chestnut. I don't have it yet but I plan to soon. Pic courtesy of KSF.

Brumby, I really like that 8 inch closed OT you got there. What model is it? I need to find one.

That's a modern Old Timer from Taylor Brands, LLC. It was a special display knife they imported, an oversized reproduction of the 8OT. I believe they used the product model number "SC5" for those.

I just came in from the mailbox with a Case 6375 SS with orange synthetic handles.

Looks great....until you close the blades. Only the sheepfoot blade has any real snap, the other two lazily click into place.

I have a Case 6375 that is easily 45 yr old that is heavily used and the blades still close like a Conibear trap.

I got the new one for a working knife with a large dose of nostalgia thrown in. Don't see it fulfilling that role as the lack of backspring power takes the pride of doing a cutting job and snapping it back into the pocket.

Sigh...
