I think that at the moment I'd take a Sarsquatch or a thin ASH-1 over any other mid-size knife.

I'm still thinking of pulling the trigger on a skinny ASH at the Co. Store. This week's purchase, however, is a family-sized tent. A good one. Not a $50 Wal-Mart special.

In the mid-sized blades, I like a little bit of heft and thickness. As far as feel goes, I think the ASH-1 LE is about as good as they come in that category. Not a great chopper, but still a great knife for most camp chores and food prep. Also stout enough to handle larger duties if necessary.

The SH-E should not be overlooked. Tony, I know you're not big on this knife, but I've grown quite fond of mine.

Hey if you want to use a skinny ASH I'll send you one to use for a while.

I might take you up on that. However, I do have the 07 SE. Isn't it about the same thickness as the skinny? Or is it a little bit thicker?

Now that skinny that Ban did for Skunk... that one is nice.

Thin ASH with coating .205
ASH-1 SE '07 .225

So the thin ASH must be .187 stock right....

I am in TX but a few hours north of you but all the Busse's(9) I owned ,I moved them all Except my SAR5's ,to me it is my Favorite Busse's and can do all I need it to......Congrats on the INFI Bug,find the right Busse for you that fits your needs and you'll never let it go if it is a User !

Hey TTD, if you don't mind hit me with a PM and share with me why you let go of all your Busses? Were you just looking for the perfect knife? Or were you giving INFI a test drive? Just wondering because I know you're a knife nut, and I'd like to hear your views.

Thanks for the pics Guyon! 2 Questions--in the top pic, the knife on the left and the one 4th from the left both seem to have snakeskin scales, but one is much bolder than the other. Do the snakeskin scales vary, with some being bold and others muted? And what is the knife in the last pic with the #12 on it. Thanks!

I love how you Busse guys call a huge bowie like a Steel Heart a mid size.
Personally a consider the Sar5 I just got a nice mid size the SH-E on the way a big knife and the Mistress bloody huge sexy beasts.

I did not like my Rat M6 but I am really looking forward to the SH-E.

The skinny ASH and Sarsquatch are both awesome as well.

The one on the end is snakeskin the other tigerhide. You may have different variations of between samples of each. The # 12 is an ASH LE.

The only snakeskin in those pics is the BATAC on the left. The other is tiger hide. However, you're right in that snakeskin can vary in terms of pattern and boldness.

The #12 knife is an ASH-1 LE (Limited Edition). That one is still available directly from Busse.

OK, Skinny Ash with micarta mags landed. I like this knife better than the CG ASH. CG ASH is too heavy for my taste. The skinny is about right (could be a little heavier), and is a nice size. I still like G-10 grips better, and DC over coated. There's something nice about the CG ASH, though, and I think it is that after I handle bigger and heavier knives the CG doesn't seem so thick and heavy anymore. So I'm going to wait and handle some bigger Busses before I make the final decision. I also think the shape of the CG ASH looks better than the skinny. Subtle difference, but there is some variation. I'll be out for a little bit, but will keep this review going when the others land.

really? i don't have a skinny, but in the pics it looked like the tip was slightly lower on the skinny. can anybody confirm this?

For me, this is the perfect Busse design.

FSH design with a straight handle and less pointy pommel.

.22" thick INFI
8.5" Blade (7.25 edge),
13.5" OAL.
1 7/8" Blade height.
2.5" inch false edge
Has coil on the blade and lash points at the talons.

Rams horn handle material is very comfortable and absorbs oils as you use it. (Not the most durable)

Weighs about as much as a Camp Tramp but with more neutral balance.

I like this one available from Alaskagun as well.

From the Busse Combat custom shop comes the highly sought after SFNO. This "nuclear tough" knife features INFI steel (Jerry Busse's Propiatary Steel), Snakeskin and Tan Micarta and measures 0.222" (Approx. 7/32"). The satin finish blade compliments the blade and though INFI is not stainless by design, it seems to have stainless characteristics.

Overall Length: 12 7/8"
Blade Length: 6 7/16"
Blade Steel: INFI
Handle: Snakeskin and Tan micarta
Thickness: 0.222" (Approx. 7/32")

Actually ram's horn is extremely durable. That is why it is used on many custom handguns that produce extreme recoil. It has to be durable. Have you seen mountain sheep butting heads?

I recently received a SE-SJTAC and have found that to be my favorite. However, I would like to get my hands on an original SJ; like KH posted, it looks to me like it is "King"!
