hopefully this post is in the right forum. after looking through my past threads i have seen that two similar posts were relocated here. so, what im trying to figure out is what stores sell leather that can be used to make a bench or paddle strop, and also where to find chromium oxide aside from woodcraft stores. online retailers are not what im looking for. i need to actually see and feel the product before purchase and the closest woodcraft is about a 2 hour drive from my house. are there any major stores that you would suggest? for at least the leather? thanks for your time.

I see there are no Tandy stores in San Diago...so I would look for a leather shop/craftsman in the area. Maybe in TJ??
A strap of 3" x 12" (max) of cowhide will make a good strop....with the right compound. If you buy some good quality stuff from a reputable online store, you won't go wrong. all "quality" cows are pretty much the same...

Oceanside....wow....that brings back memories.....semper fi.......
