In the absence of a Busse Kin folder, what do you guys pack for a pocket knife?

I have a ton of folders and rarely if ever carry one. Skelly warden in a pocket sheath is all i need.

Thing of beauty! I'd love to get my hands on one of those!

If you like the ZT 03xx series then you may find this one interesting. It is unusual in that it has a Carbon Fiber Scale with a beadblasted blade and Galyean swedge.

It is not a production version and it may be unique - I don't know. I bought it from a person who knew someone at the factory who supplied it to him.

It seems to be a combination of:

- Blade from the TAD Gear (Desert Warfafe 0300-DW) edition - bead-blasted finish with custom Galyean swedge
- Handle from the TAD Gear (0300-CFBLK) edition with carbon fiber scale

Are you sure that is Carbon Fiber?. It looks more like G10 to me.

I had an sng and thought it was a little small since I was used to carrying larger folders every day. I ended up with a used Strider SMF DGG (double gunner grip). Very grippy to say the least and thinner than the regular SMF. It has been my EDC folder for maybe 4 months and I love it.

As for warranty service, Strider is great. The lifetime warranty goes with the knife and not limited to original owner. When I got the used SMF DGG it rattled inside for some reason (maybe the ball detent?) and the pocket clip was sprung away from the handle. I sent it off and had it back good as new well within 14 calender days.

In short, I would highly recommend a Strider folder.

2 questions...1. WTF? Did you make that Busse folder? 2. Where can one buy Demko knives?

I've got a mess of nice folders, but i carry my Busse Cabs LE everyday and if i need a folder i just use my Leatherman, they seem to cover everything on a daily basis.

Interesting. My DW is marked as such on the blade, along with the TAD logo:

.

That is a carbon fiber scale on L2LKU2s ZT300 (it is hard to tell with the machined contouring), I have one also on my ZT300. I got mine from Tim Galyean back when he was working for them. I didn't like the machining on it, so I sanded mine smooth, came out nice. I also bead blasted the blade and the titanium lock side. I also had one of the TAD CF scale ones, they are rare and the only ones to have the CF scale. He are a couple of pictures. The ZT300s are hard to beat for the price.

Here are my regular EDC folders, the three Emersons are ones that I pimped by adding the titanium bolsters, scales and custom backspacers:

Here are my nicer EDCs:

Wow, I really like the smooth CF scale on yours. I have smooth CF scales (custom Barry Haugen) on one my AFCKs and it feels superb.

Back to the 0300:

That is interesting to know that you got yours from Tim Galyean directly. Mine also came directly from the factory but I do not know who from or anything about its history. It is the only one of its kind that I have seen.

I am no expert but I had done a lot of research when I bought mine and to the best of my knowledge, which could be wrong, only the Tad Gear models had either the Galyean swedge, the bead-blasted (silver colored) blade or the Carbon Fiber scale.

There were only 3 models with the the bead-blasted (silver colored) blade - the Tad Gear models, 0300 DW (Desert Warfare), 0300 CE (Combat Edition) and 0300 USN.

The USN version however did not have the Galyean swedge. Only the 0300 DW, 0300 CE and 0300-CFBLK had the Galyean swedge. But the 0300-CFBLK was black coated, so I suspect my blade was either from the 0300 DW or CE run - maybe a prototype or just an unmarked one, I don't know.

As far as I know the only one with the Carbon Fiber scale was the 0300-CFBLK so I suspect your and my scales came from that run.

There were a few other combos as well with Green G10, Black G10 etc.

But be careful when crouching. I wouldn't trust that kydex sheat that much.
I appreciate the concern but you may want to see below to alleviate it. ;)

I certainly would trust it.

I certainly do, and this sheath is made with the thin kydex to keep the profile minimized in my pocket. Walking, running, crouching, sitting, crawling, rolling over, you name it and I have done it during the year I carried that sheath in my pocket with no issues, summer or winter. I've worked on/under trucks, tossed hay bales, loaded all kinds of heavy metal junk by hand, tossed/stacked firewood, etc and never had an issue with the kydex bending or breaking in my pocket. Heck, I have had several objects smash into the sheath in my pocket where it probably kept me from getting a bruise. The paint wore off of the eyelets, there are a few scratches from impacts and some of the texture smoothed a bit, but that is just cosmetic stuff I could care less about. Functionally, it is darn near impossible to bend two layers of kydex that only protrude 1/2" from the tip/edge of the blade. Keep in mind, WHILE IT IS FLAT AGAINST MY THIGH the amount of force it would take to break the sheath would do much worse things to my body way before the sheath gave.

How do you like the PMR?

I love it. It makes a great EDC when I am working outside a lot. It doesn't weigh much so I barely notice it and shoots great out to 100 yards (farthest I have actually tried). It is powerful enough to tackle just about anything in an emergency. It may not kill a bear, but 25-30 rounds of 22WMR pain should be enough to change it's mind before I have to start stabbing it. :D
