Well, many of you might have seen a thread right here in the GB&U forum called "Now a warning to the folks". This thread (link located below) began because the original post was dropped in a sales thread. Many people, including me stepped in ASAP to have our voices heard that it seemed completely inappropriate to make such a comment in someones private thread. I was in complete agreement, when the non-sales related posts were moved to the GB&U forum. IMO, it was a bad and ugly thing to do.

However, instead of this thread being called "inappropriate posts in other peoples sales threads" or something along those lines, it was vaguely called "Now a warning to the folks". because it shares words with the inappropriate post and intent, there is automatic assumption the entire context of the thread regards the warning of using various paypal options for payment.

Now, regardless of the important opinions and nature of what that conversation has become, i still feel very strongly that is has completely divert from the original reason for being moved here.

It is my opinion that this thread is both bad and ugly because it is read completely out of context and has abandon the original and main issue. It only occurred to me after stepping back and realizing this thread has not only left behind what i think is important, but most importantly it's left behind it's primary reason for creation.

If it's become something else, fine, that's the beauty of forums. However, I still think it's important and fair that it is represented accurately for where, and why it began.
Here is the thread link.

When I pull posts out of a thread, for whatever reason, I use words from the new first post to make it visible to the people who had participated in one thread and now find themselves in another. I also insert posts of my own in large type in both threads to explain where and why these posts were moved.

It's up to the rest to you to explain your opinion of the situation.

As far as interfering in a sales thread, we have been taking this much more seriously recently. I developed a custom infraction for it, 5 infraction points for 2 months. This can be increased if the interference is blatant or vengeful.

A problem the moderators have mentioned from time to time is that, when one member commits an infraction offense, and other members join in for or against him, it makes it extremely difficult for us to sort through the mess, assessing warnings and infractions.

If you see it and don't like it, then Report Post. But posting and posting and posting in the thread just makes it impossible for us to sort it all out. We are left with moving all those posts or closing the thread.

Mistakes were made, Apologizes have been made, all parties involved are moving forward, it might be helpful for all to do the same.

Listen, as much as it seems like a criticism of your actions, i promise this is not. I appreciate what you do, and have already said a few words of recognition to you directly and specifically regarding this situation.

you guys have your policies and systems for pulling posts out of threads, and that's fine. It doesn't change the fact that i truly believe the whole point of everyone's objections to the original post has been completely lost, and honestly never stood a chance.

The other issue (which i know has nothing to do with you) is that people read the title and the last few posts of a thread. I just think it misrepresented.

as for reporting posts, i will definitely follow that route in the future. I guess i'm just the type of guy that is perfectly satisfied with a sincere apology. It wasn't my sales thread, but i guess i tend to think other people share my view in that, and in this case i know the author of the original thread feels the same.
