incoming.. custom, Duane Dwyer SNG in the ultimate of super steels, CMP REX 121!

Maybe if you keep it in a safe.
:D:D:D
Stiders are not safe knives. They are users. Stiders would get bored in a dark safe, perhaps even get aggressive and start cutting up the joint.

Here is nice DDC review of all three sizes of knives.

They could sit around and play cards with some XM-18's and Sebenzas, then get pissed off and bust up the joint... :D :D

I have never really liked the DDC knives because of the chisel grind or when i did see a v-grind it wasn't in a pattern i particularly cared for. Knowing he is working with such high quality steels has really made me appreciate his knives a lot more. I've always thought they looked well made, just not for me. Now i'm not sure if i want to make my next custom strider a MSC nightmare grind or a DDC with a higher quality steel. Why can't I get the best of both worlds?!?!?! lol I know those nightmare grind blades would be ridiculously difficult to do with these harder steels like D2,M4,S110v, or rex121. Thats my holy grail though.

I think DDC has taken a excellent military hard use knife concept and turned them into a more practical EDC slicer without sacrificing strength. His grinds take the cutting edge way down compared to a stock Strider but still keeps a very thick spine for durability. I am told the blade stock is thicker than the stock Striders as well(that is saying something). I dont see why a DDC cant be used every bit as hard as a stock Strider once you get over the fact that you are batoning a $900.00 knife.

I get the impression you don't understand how brittle these steels, like Rex 121 can really be.

Baton away though. It's your knife.

I tend to baton with more finesse than bruit strength. I'll find out. Someone has to document some of its field use. Its warrantied not that I would pry or use the knife in a non-cutting application. Abuse is one thing, using is another. Its a tool and will be used as such. If it fails, then I would rather find out in a controlled environment than deep in the back country.

That watch paired with your upcoming custom Dwyer would make for great photo opportunities.

I'll give it a shot. Its cold and snowy in central Pa. so I'll have to wait for a good day. I know alot of guys that are into knives are into watches as well. The watch in the above pic is a pretty rare Rolex factory custom called a "Serti Submariner". I ordered it new 11 years ago and its been on a lot of dives. As you can tell, I am into automatic watches as well as knives, guns, etc. The typical Bigboy toys. I am a enthusiast and save up a long time for them.
Maybe I'll try something like this....

This is my everyday favorite. Omega Planet Ocean 45mm.

I thought it was nice to see all three DDC knives together and video really helps see the grinds better than pics. There isn't alot of reviews out there. Obviously it wasn't a critical/tech review.

i get you i'm just kidding, the cigar, the manucure, the accent and those big manly folders ... it was just hilarious to me.

congrats for your score anyway !

I though the cigar seemed a bit much and I am a cigar smoker. ;)

Mystro: Sorry for the OT, but I LUST after a P.O. XL in black on a bracelet... GORGEOUS watch... In the meantime, I must be content with my well worn 'Zilla

I'm the kind of guy who'll call BS on that watch being on "a lot of dives." I doesn't show the use. How many dives and how deep have you taken it?

. I'll take that as a compliment. I know how to take care of my stuff. All my watches and activities are well documented on the watchuseek forums. Its been 11 years since I ordered my Rolex Serti Submariner. For many years it was my only "good watch" so it went with me everywhere. I took it on vacation all the time. We always did several dives each time. Lately, my Sert Sub has been on the winder more. I have kids now so it's has a more pampered life. I have been wearing my Planet Ocean as my every day. My PO is a accuracy legend over at watchuseek. + or- 0 seconds in over 45 days! I have had it over a year now and it still keeps that kind of accuracy. The Omega Planet Ocean has become my favorite. It's built like a tank, ridiculously accurate, and looks as good on a strap as it does on it's ss bracelet. Not very expensive for what you get. I recommend it.

Now that I have two kids in diapers, my exotic dive locations have become a bit more humble. I will say kids are harder on a fine watch than diving anyway.

If you owned a Rolex you would know when you send it in for factory service every 4-5 years they come back looking perfect as new

Think of Rolex or Omega like a Strider or CRK knife except you have to pay for service out of it's warranty time. When you send you watch in for general service, it is fully detailed like new. These are watches that last for generations. You do get what you pay for.

I don't wear jewelry although I have a few odds N ends that my wife bought me - like my wedding ring etc. My younger brother is the watch freak, hangs out at TZ and other watch forums. He owns a couple boxes full of Rolexes, Tag, Tag/Heuer, Omega, Panerai....ad infinitum...(excuse my spelling) :)

That one looked just too new to be a veteran of all of those dives. I'll be more than happy to take your word for it if you'll take your hairy arms and watches to your watch forums. :barf: :D I want to look at knives!

Those are man hair.....
I have to laugh,.... I dont have any hair now because I have been testing the sharpness of my knives on my arms. My wife started to complain about the bare patches on my arm so now I test my blade on a different section of arm until I am even.
