Increasingly unlikely "what ifs"

Is the action on a swish like the 247? In terms of flying out but not drop shut close?

I don't have a 247 to compare with but that description matches my Swishes (strong detent, flawless never fails to flip flipping, but takes some wiggling to close). I have 3 Swishes, a Gambit, a Rainmaker and a Busker, incidentally--but still haven't bought a Wayfarer or 247 yet.

I can middle finger flick the Swish using the hole or the fuller and have taken to playing with it that way so much that my wife has given me the "quit playing with your pocket knife" stare a few times.

This one is my happy place--3.75oz, 3.75" blade, great action, great fit and finish, great everything:

I try to rotate through a couple of dozen of my favorites for regular carry, but when I end up cheating and carrying this or one of my Southards about half the time. If I could only save one knife in a fire, this one would be in the running (though I'd probably take the first pocket knife my wife bought me, my first Spyderco Southard, and then have Eugene make me another green, purple and black Swish when he has a chance).

From my understanding Chris Reeve helped in the development of S30V and S35VN, so it is understandable they would be his choice. They are what he wanted. Tim Reeve on the other hand very well may be more open to variety, presuming there is no problem with their manufacturing process. It certainly wouldn't hurt sales. That said I am fine with both S30V and S35VN.

I wouldn't notice. I haven't seen either of my current CRKs in a while, they're in a cabinet somewhere.

Wow, must be nice! Haha

Anyway, back on topic. I don't own a CRK yet, but a small Sebenza is at the top of my want/wish list. I'm still having a hard time justifying spending that much money on a knife when I have several ZT's, Spydercos and Benchmades that are amazing in my eyes and do anything I need them to do whether it be a fishing, hunting, or just an office EDC.

I'll still own a CRK just because I want to and have to see what the hype is all about. But if they didn't exist or never had existed I'd be just fine with everything else I happily own.

Yes, I know CRK knives have great fit and finish. But what can they do that my 111mm SAK can't do other than stay sharp longer in terms of cutting something? I know all about pride of ownership and so forth and I agree with that if it means something important to you.

This sounds a little trollish, but I have looked at CRK knives many times. I just can't justify the cost when I can buy a ZT for about $200 or half the price. I know CRK knives are "better" than Vic SAKs, but I wanted to pose this question. Maybe it is a question of ignorance is bliss which is why I wouldn't miss not having CRK knives available.

CRK knives are something that people like or don't like. Just like any other brand. I own 5 of them, and especially like my 2 most recent ones; a large 21 Insingo and a small drop point Inkosi. I own many knives, and out of all of them, CRKs have the overall best construction.

That said...do they cut any better than, say, many of my Spydercos? No. Are they as versatile as my SAKs? No. CRKs are what they are. They are excellently-made knives that, if they appeal to you and work for you, are great. I have no problem with CRK's prices on their basic, plain-jane models. For me, that's about as high as I'd ever spend on a knife. Since I hardly buy any knives at all anymore, it's a moot point for me, anyway.

SAK's have their strong following just as CRK's. IMO both have been earned. You do have to pay up to get what CRK offers(all those little things do add up) and it is up to each individual to decide if that price is worth it. Both sides can make a good argument. I am lucky enough to own one, and to me it is worth it. It is nice to own one , not necessary.
You(general you) don't have to dislike one to like the other and in many cases they reside and compliment each in their owners pockets

It would just make their current knives really expensive. Than they truly would be collectors prices. I mean pieces.

"If" something like this happened, many would be forced to explore their next obsession waiting in the wings....

(Not my pic, plucked from the useless thread.)

The folks at CRK would probably be pretty pissed:mad:. That would probably mean they'd have to work a 5 or 6 day week instead of the 4 day week they currently enjoy, to get knives back to all those that went away in all of knifedom.

Must be a boy thing. I never thought CRK particularly attractive. I was handed one once and I thought it was some sort of Kershaw at first glance. Figured it wasn't because the entire table of guys practically fell off their chairs laughing when I said it. Funny part for me was all 3 of the 5 guys at our table that had them and were openly boasting about what they paid for them were too cheap to buy drinks that night........ or broke.

Meh. Plenty of nicely made Ti framelocks out there.

Now if Wauseon, OH were suddenly transported to the twilight zone I'd be pretty bummed.

M4 is better. With a cheap diamond stone you can touch it up in seconds. Super easy. I have zero interest in s35vn even on 50 dollar knives but like what you like man. :)

M4 is a better steel everyone would agree, but is not stainless. I’m asking for a steel that balances the desirable characteristics of a steel well.

I actually would like to see more cpm154.

Sounds about right. Thought your comment pretty entertaining.
