Independence Day Giveaway

3:32.00

My dream would be to own every Kershaw, Shun, and ZT knife ever made!

But I would settle for a S60V Blur. ;)

Good dream LIB.

In case anyone is wondering, I'm taking the little man Leo Manzano in the upset.

In case anyone is wondering, I'm taking the little man Leo Manzano in the upset.

He'll have his work cut out for him with the 2nd fastest ever and the fastest in the world last year in the field running against him.

The ZT Frame lock! (300?)

I love how Kershaw (an Oregon company - go Pre!) is into track and field - we've had contests on marathon times before, etc. I can't wait for the summer olympics...

so i just looked at the site, and the average of the heats (there are three) are around 3:43-3:44 give or take a few. gonna be close

"Name Year Team Prelims
================================================================
Preliminaries
1 Alan Webb Nike 3:41.27Q
2 Lopez Lomong Nike 3:43.38Q
3 Gabriel Jennings Saucony 3:44.39Q
4 Said Ahmed Nike 3:41.92Q
5 Leonel Manzano Nike 3:43.41Q

that is the top five. here is the link http://www.usatf.org/events/2008/OlympicTrials-TF/results/P9.asp

i must admit, i am confused a lil in what they are doing in terms of calling a top time

Based on the information posted at USATF and elsewhere, the Personal Records for nine of the runners look like this:

Name - PR
Bernard Lagat - 3:26.34
Alan Webb - 3:30.54
Christopher Lukezic - 3:33.28
Rob Myers - 3:34.89
Gabriel Jennings - 3:35.21
Leonel Manzano - 3:35.29
Lopez Lomong - better than 3:36.60 not 3:37.07 like his USATF bio lists
Jon Rankin - 3:38.90
Said Ahmed - 3:43.40

It doesn't look like anyone in the 5k or 10k broke any track or Trials records or their PR. We'll see with the 1500 if anyone gets close. Good luck to your pick Thomas.

It looks like Lagat, Manzano, and Lomong are the top 3. Olympic bound! Congratulations! Almost as good as winning a Damascus Kershaw.

You gotta be kidding me! I ran to the web to pick my knife and I see I was beaten out by .01 trillionth of a second?? Argh! I got over-bid by .01
Though for sure I had it at 3:40.00
Owning a Damascus was that close.
No Silver Medal in these Olympic trials?(just kidding)
It will certainly be a depressing night.

PS- Thomas I sent you a note on my Spec Bump this afternoon to a different email address I had for you. Last time I sent you an email it went to your SPAM folder- so just a heads up.
Thanks for the fun !! I never got so excited over a foot race before.

If I read it correctly, OL's guess of 3:40.50 is the closest to Lagat's winning time of 3:40.37. So, an unsubstantiated congrats, OL!

Thanks Thomas. It brought back distant memories of my short lived middle distance career.

3:40.50 is "over" 3:40.37 isn't it? 3:40.01 is under isn't it? Confusing when thinking about timed events where the quickest wins. What's over and what's under, slower or faster?

Congrats to either OL or SV whoever is the winner.

Well, since ol hasn't responded withn the standard requirement of 0.37 seconds, "I'll Take It"! :D

Tin cup strikes again!

You might be right, there, PG, the little guy might have won one, after I re-read the rules:

The Olympic Games will soon be upon us, so let's have a contest on this wonderful Independence Day.

Up for grabs is a Damascus Leek, Damascus Scallion, or Damascus Chive (your choice)!!!

Rules:
*You have to have already posted at least 10 times in the Kershaw Sub-Forum (prior to me posting this contest)
*No Internationals
*1 guess, and one guess only
*Don't screw up, and don't pick the same time as the poster in front of you.
*You have to have your guess in prior to the starting gun.
*Anyone breaking one or more of the rules gets a dose of "family" hazing.

Contest:
The Olympic Trials for Track & Field have been taking place in Eugene for the last week or so. The finals for the Men's 1500 meters is the last event Sunday night. The closest guess to the winning time without going over will be our champion.

Gotta do a little homework on this one folks.

Follow your guess with a Kershaw dream of yours. If you forget this part, you're eliminated from the contest.

Good luck kiddies, and Happy 4th!!!

Now it remains to be seen if "a Kershaw dream of yours" is the same as your dream Kershaw knife, which is what most people put down.
Sorry OL, but congrats anyways for having hands my size :D.

Rik

Ok, I'm calling it... sv with the win!!! Congrats!!! Let me know what knife, and where it's going.

I got's this time as the winner...am I seeing this right?

Nice race by the little man Leo btw.

Congrats SV. Which knife will you choose?

A veteran on the world stage and 2 youngsters with great back stories going to the Olympics in the 1500. Only in America, land of opportunity!
