Inexpensive knife that every knife guy (or gal) should own

The Tremor is great. I may need to pick up a back up, just cause... And here I was maybe ordering a Utilitac back up... choices choices...

What is that SOG in the middle? Is it easy to open despite its size?

Any of the Spyderco Tenacious, Resilience, Resilience or Ambitious line. IMHO, terrific knives that have the potential to turn you into a knife knut.

I'm getting my basement gut reno'd and finished. Using the Blur for removing fiber glass wrap.

This is my favorite non overbuilt edc work knife in the market. I just love it.

. . . . and keeps his wad under control as a side benny.
This is what the savvy City Gent carries to ensure a satisfactory traverse of his day.

Under fifty dollars by a long jot . . . try nine or ten dollars including Prime shipping.
The Gerber EAB or the Gerber EAB Light (the one with the slits and more elegant shape).
Every body needs one of these; even non knife people.

All metal
Thin body but has multiple very usable and useful grips.
Disappears in your pocket (not bulky like other box knives)
Easy on the eyes to look at. Visually I would even call it a little work of art.
Doubles as a nice looking money clip.
You can remove the clip to even further cut down on the bulk of the knife.
One hand opening but easiest if you keep the clip on the knife.

You can even choose your blade hardness from “regular” to Bimetal (carbide edge).
You can choose your blade thickness, within a range of thin, thinner or thinest. Roughly :
1.2mm
1 mm
0.4 mm = the one I prefer
Blades are replaceable and inexpensive. I’ve never broken a blade and I cut the side out of five foot long by three feet high corrugated double wall boxes regularly.

The black Gerber box knife I included to compare sizes. It has a Griptillian sort of handle. Roughly (very roughly). It’s nice too but is a whole different animal in your pocket. Kind of “the elephant in the room” compared to “the fly on the wall” of the EAB.

Third photo demonstrates why I have three Gerber EABs

That's interesting. $300 is where you start? There are plenty of sub-$50 knives that do a great job in their category. Victorinox stamped chef's knife with a fibrox handle is widely regarded as high quality regardless of price, and even after the massive run-up in price is still less than $50. Are you talking about price for performance, or fit/finish total package?

Opinel #6-8
Von Tempsky Bowie is under $300, that doesn't meet your definition of a nice knife?

My Benchmade Rift was $114. That doesn't do anything for you?

There are lots of really nice knives at/above $300, but there are plenty of good knives under that price point. Maybe you are one of those people who can't assess the value of something without the price being a significant part of the equation.

It's a kitchen knife, but a KOM KOM #21 from Thailand. About $12. Kind of a pointy santoku. Once sharpened, cuts better than some of my big money chef knives. Kiwi brand (a sister brand of kom kom) are good too, but a little cheaper, thinner and lighter.

There are some truly legendary knives out there that have been around for years. I think they are an important part of knife history. Do you think it is important to own one of these knives? There are some great knives that are truly bargains. Let us know which knife you feel is a bargain and that everyone should own. Lets keep them under $50.

I'll start with the...

Opinel (#9)

Mora outdoor 2000
Buck 119
Rtak II

Pretty much spot on for me, less the Opinel, maybe a CRKT Drifter instead.
I also like the CS mini TUFF lite, really inexpensive.

I think i have three Mora 2k, one in each car and one in i bag somewhere.
Condor bushlore is also a knife hard to beat for the money spent.

Another Blur vote.
Got one off the Exchange for $50 and have been very impressed with it!
Boker Urban Trapper......cool knife with lots of blade!
Boker Kwaiken Ti.....great slicing blade!

A Condor.... Anyone ever heard of Condor around here?????? Their 1075 Is done right. Sheaths are tough and practical. Most are under $50. Their Scandinavian grinds just flat out cut In my experience.

Delica 4. Mine has been through a lot with me and I never had a reason to complain.
