Infi vs. Angel Sword Steel

Odd. Only "Living Steel" i had heard of was shiva ki, now even he is being squandered

I just think it's facinating that they charge $2000 for a knife that has mediocre fittings, poor finish, and apparently poor design. $2000 is a LOT of money for a dagger, and usually you get a LOT more for your money

They make a good sword. Not the best, not even amazing, just very, very good, and they charge 2 to 3 times what a similar quality blade from a custom maker or production company would charge.

I will not argue that they do bad work, but i have yet to see one sword made by them that was priced where it should have been.

They price their swords according to what the market accepts. If nobody were buying their products at the prices they set, they would have either adjusted them or, gone belly up.

Here's a great deal

Only $2000 and made out of "living steel" which must be awesome because it has a name

Pretty sure i saw one at a flea market for 14 bucks, but maybe i misread the price tag

........living means poisoned........ (look at kris/keris , living or alive means its poisoned) I don't think they really mean that terminology

I think Dan's Scizzy is S7 and higher RC than 57. I remember Jerry saying they were impressed as to how well their speacial heat treat did on their S7.
They also shot it with a 50 cal. (from far away) but still sweet.

The chemical composition of any steel is one of the variables to talk about. I would say that at least as critical is the heat treatment protocol that has been applied and the accuracy with which it has been applied. When you buy a knife, a sword, a tomahawk or any cutting tool for that matter you don't just buy the steel but the heat treatment as well and this can make all the difference!

That's very true. There's a sucker born every minute, and they need swords too. I am not criticizing them for their pricing, i'm stating my assessment of that value.

I don't care if they charge 20grand for a dagger. I wouldn't buy it, but it's their right to charge exactly what they'd like

Their prices are what they are because of marketing. A large portion of their sales happen at Renaissance Fairs. I have had a few chats with their sales people there, and they have some very interesting things to say about their swords that i'd bet my boat and all my infi could NEVER be backed up in reality. Of course, it's very easy to sell to someone who comes prepared to spend 6 grand to buy the best sword that money can get, if you can convince them that your product is the best in the world.

It's not. That's a fact. There are MANY better pieces out there for similar or lower prices, but the folks at their booth tell you that there's nothing in the world that's as good as Angel Sword.

I don't understand "living steel"? Does it eat? If it Sh@$ in my safe, I'd be P'd

I don't care how in depth their heat treat and tempering process is, those knives are overpriced and for the most part ugly. :barf:

Hey guys just my 2 cents here.

I'm not as knowledgeable as you guys when it comes to knives and related yet, but the Japanese sword is my area of
expertice, since is part of what I study, and by looking at their swords and prices I can tell you this:

Their finest blades are 9 grand, and at that price you don't look at only the blade, but the fittings.
Wich in my opinion suck very very much, the fittings on a japanese blade made in Japan
and with a superb quality would be ten times better and for the same amount, also japanese swords tend to go up to a RCH of 70
in some cases only in the front or hamon, but the mihneh or spine goes never beyond RCH of 58 with the lowest being
50-52, witch in my opinion makes it better steel with a better heat treatment (although is a pain in the bottom to get right.)
I know this because actually I will have to be buying my Katana shortly as part of my development as a
Iaido practitioner, my sensei introduce me to his sword guy lol.
and for 6500 american you can get one amazing piece of art backed by 1000 years or more of
tradition.
So afraid of sounding like an arse, I will say this swords are super over priced.
