INFI vs CruWear vs SR-101

Just out of curiosity.. I know INFI is tough stuff, often seen compared to the best of the 3V with propriety heat treat... And SR-101, which is slightly less tough or ductile but takes and keeps a finer edge a bit longer... I am not a metallurgist.

I was looking at the Benchmade Adamas fixed blade in CruWear. I just wondered how the steels would compare?

Also wonder if we'll see a Bussekin design like it... A potentially Cerakoted mid sized (5") INFI or SR-101 fixed blade designed with no scales at around 3/16" thick... Sometimes I just like things nice and slim, but INFI-tough of a Busse.

The rounded/crowned tang treatments lately would be perfect and add to the comfort factor.

Cruwear Adamas is solid. I had one for a bit and traded it for a discontinued tan handle Nimravus without the serrations. I like it much better in overall design compared to the Adamas , and haven't found the extra thiccness to be an issue even in scout carry where shit likes to print lol. While like the Nim better in overall design.. I do like Cruwear much better than 154cm though, but only in toughness.

Honestly I can't think of many companies who have much more experience with 154cm than Benchmade. That said.. could climb a tree with a well heat treated Cruwear knife.. I can't vouch for how well BM heat treated their Cruwear though. I didn't really have the knife too long.

First of all, Boycott Benchmade. #NeverForget

Second, I am now envisioning a Nuclear Meltdown Ratmandu with no handle scales, and it would be glorious.
Heck, even a Mega RMD with no scales would be pretty slick.
This was before they cut up anyone's guns. I agree on the mega rmd. A meltdown blank would basically be this dudes perfect knife

Actually.. I'm wrong. This has to be after because I don't think they made the cruwear adamas yet..

Oh well.

One of these days I plan to sell basically all my knives and keep the layout I'll take with me everywhere

Well, but what about how CruWear compares to info or SR-101?

I don't necessarily care about Benchmade as a brand... I'm only mentioning them mostly because of the fixed Adamas' form factor..

Now that RMD blank idea sounds nice...
Ideally, I want something tough but slim & slicey. A blank of the FHFG RMD with rounded perimeters and a few extra holes in the handle for lashing/ cord wrap would be awesome!

I really like the monolithic fhfg idea too.. maybe put a fero rod divot in the spine. Mmm! I'd buy that too.

So I remember Jerry talking about playing with vascowear decades ago which I think is the steel cpm copied and called cruwear. Don't hold me to that last part, but that's what I sort of remember.

So what I'm reading in the oh-so-trustworthy universe of the interwebs is that CruWear is somewhere between or a compromise between CPM-3V and CPM-M4 in terms of both toughness and edge holding.

Would that compare more with SR-101 then? Or where does SR-101 stack up?

Apologies. My comment was made as an aside, and was not intended to cause problems.

I don’t know how the steels compare, so I’m no help there. I just want to know when I can order a Flatmandu.
Now I need to look up, what's wrong.....ugh! :(
I feel I have morales, and don't really want to buy another folder
My folder is a HK brand

There is a lot of history about cruwear and vascowear, it's parent. I remember there being a love hate relationship with vascowear by knifemakers. Grinding was a pita.

Flatmandu... I like it.
Full height Flat Grind on 3/16" stock of INFI or SR-101, flat handles (without scales and with rounded perimeters treatment).

I'm in!!
