Info on R.W. Loveless knives...

Amber Stag does not add $5 to 6k to a Loveless Chute.Regular Chute approx. $10-$11k,Amber Chute approx. $12-$13.5k
Dave

Hi Dave.
Of course I would would never attempt to question or contradict you on a Loveless issue, however as you well know I have been in the market for and have been following Loveless amber stag chutes closely for a couple years now.

No one including the owner had questioned STeven's $9000 value on the opening post macarta chute knife. However per you, I will now consider $10K as a starting value for the Loveless chute. But, are you stating that Loveless amber stag chutes have not sold in the $14.5-$15K range in the last couple years? Thus $14.5K - $9K was basics for my statement that one can be as much as $5-6K over the other, which I still stand by.

Again, not trying to contradict you, just confused as your statement contradicts information from my narrow focus on that specific Loveless model.

Can anybody tell me what years his knives were made in Lawndale? I grew up in Lawndale on 145th street and was wondering where his shop was located.

Lovelesses at their peak a Chute may have been $14k,typically closer to $13,Micarta chutes were always around $10 to $11ish.
$9k on a Chute is a steal

I have a real sweetheart of a chute in micarta getting photographed now. I am starting to train a young man to work with me, and showing him some of what I do, and pulled out this knife. When I asked him what he thought the high end value of it was, he declared sheepishly: "500 dollars?" He he he! I then told him I thought it was around 10k (See, I was on target!).

Amazing world we are involved in. :p

I was headed out to the Plaza Show when I saw this post but didn't have time to respond.

First thanks for using one of my Chutes for your example! It is a classic. I started off on my Loveless quest by buying Guardians, too. I still have the Gerber Guardian set in the wooden case.

STeven was pretty close with his values. I didn't see any for sale at Plaza but I'm sure there were few around. The interest in Loveless designed knives has really grown. Bill Ankrom and Ron Newton had a great show, both featuring knives in the Loveless style.

Mike Lovett couldn't attend but was gracious enough to send two knives! These were from his personal collection and they drew a lot of very positive comments. The knives were sold using a lottery system and unbelievably I was drawn for both! Thanks, Mike!!

Hopefully, Steven will do one of his super reviews of Plaza and I'll chime in on that.

Win

That is one Beautiful Chute Win!!! Loveless Chute Knives! It just doesn't get any better than that for me!

And you won Both Lotteries for Lovett's? Un-real!!! I'm already hearing a bit of whining because of that!! :DHaa!!!Manuela and I so much wanted to be there. This Eminent Domain thing is really hurting!

It was so nice of Mr. Dan to offer to have the Knives there even though we were un-able to attend. We have ever intention of being there for the Next Plaza Show!

People who buy Loveless knives are generally smart and financially secure enough to ride out economic uncertainties...

I think Steve summed up well the reason Loveless knife values withstand the ups and downs of the market place better than some others. When you're investing at that level, you are investing in an item whose value may level off and even drop a little with a downturn of the market, but the market always turns around and a Loveless is a Loveless.

By the way, if anyone is actually willing to sell a Loveless Chute for $9000, send me a PM and we'll talk. I already have a couple, but I'll make room in the safe...

I DID write $9,000+ after my quote that was self-admittedly in need of clarification.;)

FWIW, there are 3 people right now who would happily sell me a micarta handled chute for $9,000, but I want to pay less than that, so I am waiting.

Best Regards,

Dave Ellis had some amazing Loveless knives at the Plaza show and I believe an Amber Chute. Forget price but know it was $13k+.

Mike Lovett - Sorry you couldn't come to Plaza Show. Bid on your two knives but didn't come up.

Hope move is smooth!

Thanks Adam! Sorry you didn't get drawn. Win must be super Lucky!!

Steven, I can always sell you a Lovett Chute for 9000.+!!! LOL!!!
